ASSIST Smoking Prevention Programme
Why are you here?
We will increase your
knowledge about smokingrelated issues.
We will help you
develop the skills and
confidence to pass on
the information you
learn to your peers.
We would like to train you to
be Peer Supporters so that
you can help your friends to
stay smoke free.
Why are we doing this programme?
• The health of young people is affected soon after they start.
• We know most smokers want to give up, but
once they start it is difficult to stop.
• Adult smokers are more likely to have illnesses that:
- stop them having the life that they would like
- prevent them playing sport
- affect their breathing and their heart
whiter teeth and
fresher breath
cleaner air for everybody
Some benefits of not smoking are…
clearer skin,
fewer spots
and wrinkles
being fitter
and achieving
more in sport
more money to spend on
other things, like going
to concerts!
Living a LONGER and HEALTHIER life!!
