Manvers Paddle Triathlon Race Instructions Manvers Waterfront Boatclub, Station Road, Manvers Way, Wath-upon-Dearne, South Yorkshire Start 10am Sunday 18th July 2015 Dear Competitor, Thank you for your entry in the above event. Please note the following points: 1. Sat Navs will not get you to the venue car park us S63 7BU then follow the map below. 1.Directions. 10 minutes from the M1 at Junction 36 or 15 minutes from the A1(M) at Junction 37. From M1 Junction 36. Head North East. Dual Carriageway A6195. Follow your nose and the Dual Carriageway to the end. Go straight on when A6195 becomes single carriageway. At next Island turn RIGHT A6023 MANVERS WAY. RSPB Sign on the corner. Go down Manvers Way with RSPB reserve on your left, then under a blue footbridge. At next island TURN LEFT into Station Road. Immediately after Garden Centre on your left TURN LEFT into Golf Club entrance. Follow the hedge around to the left and the boat house is straight in front of you. From A1(M) Junction 37. Head West along A635 Sp Barnsley. At 3rd Island (Total Station on the corner) TURN LEFT A6195. Go down hill, cross the river Dearne and at next Island. TURN LEFT A6023 MANVERS WAY. RSPB sign on the corner. Go down Manvers Way with the RSPB reserve on your left, then under a blue footbridge. At next Island TURN LEFT into Station Road. Immediately after Garden Centre on your left TURN LEFT into Golf Club entrance. Follow the hedge around to the left and the boat house is straight in front of you. 2. Registration. You will need to collect your number and confirm your registration on the day. Registration will be open from 8.15 am. Please arrive in plenty of time to avoid queues. 3. Course Safety. All canoeists will paddle anticlockwise around the course keeping the buoys on your left hand side. Safety canoes and boats will be patrolling the canoe course. If you get into difficulty wave your arm in the air and shout. Carrying a mobile phone (in a water proof case) on the bike leg is recommended 4. Parking. Will be at the boathouse car park and the southern side of the lake, this will be open from 8am and there will be a £1 charge (MWBC members free with car park pass). Event parking is not permitted at the golf club car park. Free parking is available at Wath Cricket Club Wetmoor Lane Wath and walk over the blue bridge to the start. 5. Toilets / Showers / Changing and Cafe. These facilities are in Manvers Waterfront Boatclub. 6. Directions to the start. The race starts at the slip way at Manvers Waterfront Boatclub car park (see map) just off Station Road, Wath Upon Dearne. 7. Prize Giving. This will take place at the Manvers Waterfront Boatclub, after the last finisher crosses the line. 8. Results. Will be available on the website www.mwbc.org.uk 9. If you have any comments or suggestions for improving the race, please email them to [email protected] Manvers Paddle Triathlon - Maps and Instructions Location Map On Site Car Parking - Note £1 charge This may be revised on the day and you may exit the same way that you entered. Paddle Stage - The Route is about 1.5k anticlockwise (2 laps Canoe - 1 lap stand up paddle board) Competitors will be set off from the slipway area competitors will paddle their boats/boards back to this area in waves of about 20 boats about 10 minutes apart. Sit on top boats are provided within race fee. Competitors are allowed to bring their own boats, however organisers can accept no responsibility for these and should be stored between the slipway and gate to the car park during the event. Buoyancy aid to be removed and left with boat prior to entering transition. It is very unlikely that you fall in the water the boats are very stable. I would wear cycling type gear for the canoe stage along with a waterproof jacket just to keep the water splashes off. Transition 1 - Paddle to Bike Numbers must be worn and be visible on rear of cycling top. Usual BTF rules apply from entering transition. Drinks will be available Cycle Route – Not as hard as before - please consider other path users as the paths are still open to the public The course is suitable for mountain bikes and hydrids. The route is mainly on trails and made paths it is an out and back route along the TPT toward Wombwell/Barnsley . There will be a marshal at the turn point (10k from the start). There are a couple of road to cross you must give way to traffic. Safety – Advised to take a mobile phone and contact race control 01709 878984 (put this number in your phone now) if you have a problem. If you see a rider in difficulty stop and offer to help them, if needed let the next marshal know. If you retire let a marshal know and let a race official know back at MWBC. There will be a sweep bike that will go round with last rider/runner. Transition 2 Bike to Run - BTF rules apply do not remove helmet until you have racked your bike Drinks will be available. Race number to the front. Run Section - Run clockwise around the lake the route is marked with red and white tape and marshals will be at points on the route where you can reasonable go wrong. There is likely to be a small diversion of the footpath just after the new houses, this will be well marked. Please give way to cars using the main drive/golf club. The finish will be at the top of the banking near the café. Drinks available at the finish. Run Route - 1 clockwise lap
