Grassroots Canvasser Campaign Description

Grassroots Canvasser
Campaign Description
Every child deserves a strong start and equal chance in life. Let’s Grow Kids is a public
awareness and engagement campaign about the important role that high-quality,
affordable child care can play in supporting the healthy development of Vermont’s
children during their first five years—the most important years for laying a foundation for
success in relationships, in school and in life. Because Vermont’s shortage of highquality, affordable child care is a serious challenge for our communities and our
economy, our goal is to gain public support leading to increased, sustainable investment
that gives all children the chance to reach their full potential. Let’s Grow Kids is an
initiative of the Permanent Fund for Vermont’s Children.
Role of the Grassroots Canvasser
This is an opportunity to join a timely and historic effort to create change on an issue
that’s quickly rising to the forefront of public consciousness: early childhood. The Let’s
Grow Kids team is a smart, energetic and fun group of people who are passionate about
their work and fully committed to the campaign’s mission.
Let’s Grow Kids is launching a door to door canvassing campaign this summer, and is
hiring Grassroots Canvassers to support that effort. Canvassing staff and volunteers will
be expanding, engaging and activating our supporter base, focusing on specific areas
across the state. Primary job duties will include going door to door on behalf of Let’s
Grow Kids, collecting petition signatures, identifying new supporters and volunteers,
entering canvassing data, and training canvassing volunteers. Primary work hours will
be evenings from Wednesday through Friday and weekend days. Grassroots
Canvassers will join the campaign’s team that includes field, community education,
communications, policy and research, and business outreach. Grassroots canvassers
work under the supervision of local field coordinators and the campaign’s field director.
