WHITAKER ELA: READING & WRITING *Writing Paper Based Test: MARCH 1ST *Reading Test will be a computer based test: MARCH 29TH & 30TH TESTING SESSIONS WRITING TEST: Test: 1 Day Time: 120 Minutes to read, plan, draft essay, and edit their essay. **Students with an IEP will get their accommodations that is presented on their IEP. READING & LISTENING ASSESSMENT: Test: 2 days with 2 total sessions Time: 80 minutes for each test session Approximate number of items: 56-60 **Students with an IEP will get their accommodations that is presented on their IEP. FSA Writing Test • Students respond with either an informative/explanatory prompt or to an opinion/argumentative prompt. The FSA prompts are text dependent—based on the passage set each student is provided—which focuses on a specific purpose for writing. • Students draw on reading and writing skills while integrating information from the passage set in order to develop and draft a cohesive essay response. Planning Sheets • Before you begin, your test administrator will give you a planning sheet that you may use to take notes and plan your writing. • Your test administrator will collect your planning sheet at the end of the test session. • While testing, make sure that your planning sheet is not easily visible to other students. 5 4th Grade You will receive an FSA ELA Writing test and answer book that contains reading passages, a writing prompt, and lined pages where you will write your response. 6 Taking the Writing Test • Read each passage carefully and respond completely to the writing prompt. • Your writing should show that you can organize and express your thoughts clearly. • You are required to write your response in English. • Manage your time carefully so that you have time to read the passages, plan your response, write your response, and proofread, revise, and edit your response. 7 Sample Passage (up to 4 passages) & Prompt Subtitle 4th Grade Opinion Sample Essay: Score of 4, 4, 2 Scoring for the Opinion Essay from the previous slide Opinion Rubric Informational Rubric ELA Reading Test: Computer Based Test Test Delivery System (TDS) You will take the test in the FSA Secure Browser using the Test Delivery System (TDS). 13 Headphones/Earbuds • You will need to have a pair of headphones or earbuds for listening items on the FSA ELA Reading test. • When you log in to take your test, you will listen to a sound check to ensure that your headphones and earbuds are working prior to beginning the test. 14 Test Tickets • Prior to testing, your test administrator will give you a test ticket listing your First Name and Username, which you will need to log in to your computerbased test. • Be sure that your test ticket has the correct name and date of birth on it. • When logging in to your test, it is important that you enter your First Name and Username exactly as they appear on your test ticket. 15 Computer-Based Tools You may use any of the tools on the screen to help you with your test. 16 Practice Test • Before taking the “live” test, you will take a practice test. • The practice test will allow you to practice using the Test Delivery System and help you learn how to respond to the different types of questions and use the tools. • You can take a practice test any time at http://www.fsassessments.org/students-and-families/practice-tests/. 18
