This season, CSU’s conference title and FCS Playoffs hopes are in jeopardy, following a 17-10 loss to Gardner-Webb last Saturday. The setback snapped the Buccaneers’ string of 11 straight Big South victories. CSU’s Darius Hammond is leading the nation with 32.3 yards per return, while Liberty’s Frankie Hickson is listed No. 2 with 31.9 yards per return. 3 - Charleston Southern is seeking its third straight victory over the Flames, following a 38-36 win at Liberty in 2014 and a 31-24 home victory last season. Prior to those back-to-back triumphs, CSU had only won two of its first 21 all-time gridiron meetings with the Flames. Redshirt freshman Shane Bucenell is the third different QB to start for the Buccaneers this season. 4 - Fourth-year Charleston Southern Head Coach Jamey Chadwell has completely turned the program around, posting a 33-13 record during his three-plus seasons on the sidelines.
