Graphing with Excel

Instructions for graphing on Excel 2007
1. Enter your data into two adjacent columns (x-y).
2. Highlight the information you just entered.
3. Select the "INSERT" tab from the top tool bar.
4. Select "Scatter" from the Charts options.
5. Choose the first option of the scatter plots (the one without the
lines).
6. Choose "Layout" under the "Chart Tools" toolbar.
7. Change your title to something meaningful by clicking inside the
title box, highlighting, and then changing the text.
8. Choose "Axis Titles" and add the Primary Horizontal and Primary
Vertical Axis Titles.
9. Change the axes titles to something meaningful by clicking inside
the text box, highlighting, and changing the text.
10. Choose the "Gridlines" tab. Choose both the major and minor
gridlines for both Horizontal and Vertical axes.
11. Delete the legend that appears to the right of the chart.
12. Choose the "Data Labels" tab. Select "More Data Label Options."
13. Select both X Value and Y Value.
14. Choose "Trendline" from the toolbar. Choose the type of trendline
that best matches your data. NOTE: If you have a QUADRATIC trend,
you must choose "More Trendline Options" and then Polynomial
order 2. YOU WILL NOT ALWAYS CHOOSE
LINEAR.
15. Choose "Display Equation on Chart" under "More Trendline
Options"
16. Move the equation so that it is to the left of the title, in the upper
left hand margin of the page.
17. From the "Chart Tools" menu at the top of the page, select
"Design" and then choose "Move Chart."
18. Select "New Chart" and choose "OK."
19. Choose the "Insert" tab at the top of the page, and select
"Header & Footer."
18. Choose "Custom Header".
19. Insert your information in the right section. Include your name,
period number and the due date. Select "OK."
20. Your graph is done! Print the page!
