Territory Card Game (v0.1) by Murray Lewis Summary Territory Card Game is a card game for two players. It should be simple to learn, and quick to play. Each players represents an army commander, tasked with taking control of five important strategic locations. You must attack and defend these locations using troops, represented by Battle Cards, which you allocate each turn. Unfortunately, your lines of supply are erratic, and you can never be sure exactly how many troops you will have at your disposal next turn. To make matters worse, your air force is wildly incompetent, and drops supplies seemingly at random. They may drop much-needed fortifications to your defensive position, but they may also drop a battle tank straight into the hands of the enemy. After five turns, the winner of the game is the player who has accumulated the most victory points from holding the strategic locations. A 'Decisive Victory' can also end the game early, if a player has managed to gather ten more victory points than their opponent. How to Play Game Setup If this is your first time playing, you must first assemble the game components (as detailed in Printing Instructions, below). These instructions assume that the two players are seated opposite each other. Before play, each player must take their deck of 26 Battle Cards, shuffle the cards thoroughly, and then place the stack, face-down, somewhere easily within reach. One player should also shuffle the Terrain Tokens and choose five at random, placing them in a horizontal line between the two players. These are the strategic locations that you will be fighting to control during the game. The number on the token shows how many victory points you receive if you hold that territory at the end of a turn. Finally, place the scoring table somewhere nearby, the score token on the zero location in the centre, and the turn token on the first square. At the end of each turn, the turn token will be moved along one place, and the score token will be moved to show the net total of any victory points the players have accumulated. Playing a Turn Each turn follows a simple structure of 7 phases: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Draw Battle Cards (and reveal held card, if any) Supply Drops Place Battle Cards Place Supply Tokens Resolve Battles Scoring Clear the Battlefield The game ends after the Scoring phase of turn five, or at the end of any Scoring phase in which the score token is on one of the Decisive Victory spaces. Printing Instructions Make sure to print 5 copies each of the 'Player 1 Battle Cards' and 'Player 2 Battle Cards' pages. Only one copy is needed of the final page, '6-point Battle Cards & Terrain Tokens'. This will create two decks of 26 cards, one for each player. Note that printing Battle Cards onto plain paper will probably result in being able to read the values, even when the cards are placed face-down. Therefore, it is recommended to print onto card, or to place the Battle Cards into opaque-backed card sleeves. Supply drop tokens Score/turn table Using a pair of scissors or a craft knife, carefully cut out the individual cards and tokens. You now have everything you need to play!
