School fees include Manners for Minors and Playball rates and registration, which are compulsory, and I am responsible for these payments. Holiday care is charged at a separate rate. Fees are payable, in advance, on the 1st of every month for 12 months from January - December. Should your fees still be outstanding by the 3rd of each month, you will be given a reminder. Should your fees remain outstanding by the 5th of the month, unfortunately your child will no longer be allowed to attend the school until all outstanding fees and costs are settled. No refunds will be given if your child misses school due to illness or family holidays etc. One full calendar months’ notice in writing is required when leaving. Failure to give the required notice will result in you being responsible for outstanding fees which are subject to collection commissions including attorney / client and tracing fees. Should you decide not to complete a term no refunds will be given. Fees increase on 1 January of each Year. Fees are calculated on an annual basis and then split over a period of 12 months. HOURS Half Day School hours: 7.00am to 12:45pm Monday to Friday. Full Day School hours: 7.00am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday. Morning ring commences at 8.45am, sharp, and story time ends the day at 12.15pm Quiet Time is from 12.15 to 12.45pm after which aftercare commences Children must be at school by 8.45am latest, but can be dropped off from 7.00am. PLEASE send me a sms let us know if you are running late or going to be absent. A R50.00 fine will be levied if aftercare children are collected after 5.30pm. Contactable hours: 8:00am to 6:00pm. I am in class in the mornings and can only take a sms. If you really need to get hold of me out of the aforementioned hours, my answering machine is continually activated - please leave a message, send a sms or e-mail and I will do my best to get back to you on the same day. Should you need to get hold of me URGENTLY and I do not answer, PLEASE phone one of the other teaching assistants. IMPORTANT: I generally DO NOT take calls during school hours in the morning as I am occupied with the children. ADMIN Age Group: 2.5 to 5+ years of age. Language – Bilingual but predominantly English. Please take this seriously into account when making a decision about Little Explorers Early Education Centre. Ratio of 1 caregiver to every 6 children. Your child will be issued with a “Home Book” for important correspondence between you & me – please check and sign to acknowledge the note and return the notebook daily. Please also use this “Home Book” to hi-light anything that I may need to know for the day e.g. Medication to be taken, a bad night’s sleep, changes to normal routine etc. Together with the Home Book, correspondence is done via e-mail and the website. Your child’s Flip File will be sent home as soon as the terms work has been compiled and will consist of the theme details, worksheets, photographs, odds & ends & artwork for the term. PLEASE PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING At the beginning of the year and time of joining - 1 Ream of white copy paper - 1 Pack (100) of White Cardboard (Butterfly/Marlin) - 1 Pad of Bright Board - 1 Pad of Pastel Board - 1 20g Pritt stick - 1 packet of Mon-Ami Twister crayons At the beginning of EACH term - 1 20 Page Flip File (this is for your workbook / memory books) - 1 Boxes of tissues - 4 Toilet rolls - 1 Liquid hand soap or refill - 1 Packet of 64 wet wipes On a - daily basis 2 Liquid refreshments, preferably in a non-spill cup or juice/water bottle. A healthy packed snack for tea time - PLEASE no fizzy cold drinks or sweeties. Summer – A WIDE brimmed Sun Hat and Sun Protection Cream/Lotion. ALL children must have screen applied BEFORE coming to school. Winter - Raincoat, Beanie & Wellingtons (optional) An extra change of clothes or two in their school bag in case of any accidents. Nappies, Wipes and barrier cream if still in nappy. Plastic packet for soiled clothing. PLEASE MARK ALL PERSONAL BELONGINGS CLEARLY. SECURITY MEASURES We are registered with HALT security who patrol our street 12 times during a 24 hours period. The Playroom is fitted with a panic button as does my remote. No children will be allowed to go home with anybody else other than you the parent or the person authorized on your enrolment form. Should you wish your child to go home with another person on a “once off” basis, please let me know beforehand – preferably in your Home Book. PLEASE ensure that the small gate is closed AT ALL TIMES. Once we have handed your child to you at the end of the school day, they become your responsibility. Please ensure they do not run off unattended and use of the Jungle Gym and equipment is at your risk after school hours as we will be otherwise occupied with the other children awaiting their parent’s arrival. ASSESSMENTS Assessments of your children are on-going. Progress Reports for the 4 to 5 year old’s are issued at the end of every year, and Parent Appointments are set up in the last term of the year if you so wish. Should you however have ANY CONCERNS during the year, PLEASE come and address them with me. I too will make contact with you if I find any problem areas with your children in my capacity as a teacher, and make recommendation depending on the problem area noticed. OTHER PLEASE do not bring your child to school if they are ill. There are so many infectious diseases and we really want to prevent the spread of any illnesses. Please let me know if your child will be absent for the day – an sms will be sufficient. NO TOYS ARE ALLOWED AT SCHOOL – unless they are “comfort toys, theme related or requested by myself. BIRTHDAYS We celebrate your child’s birthday at school with a very special BIRTHDAY RING. We make it a special occasion and request that you please provide small cupcakes OR cake OR a small treat on the BIG day. CAR PARKING PLEASE do not park in or obstruct any of my neighbour’s driveways or pull onto their pavements, especially the home directly across the road. You are welcome to park in my driveway once the main gate is opened. When parking in the road, PLEASE park as close to the curb as possible to alleviate any problems with traffic flow. “VALUE ADDED” ACTIVITIES PLAYBALL Sport and Movement programme and MANNERS For MINORS are included as part of our school curriculum with NO additional cost to you. EXTRA MURALS CURRENTLY BEING OFFERED Gymfants Ballet SCHOOL ACTIVITIES (in a nutshell and we occasionally will deviate from the programme) Being a Christian based school we start the day with a devotion & prayer. To encourage positive behaviour, each child will have a reward chart – once complete, they will have a chance to choose something from the surprise bag. Each child WILL have a turn! Each week a boy and a girl is selected to be the “Class Captain” for the week. Tuesday’s are “Shopping Day” – each child gets a turn per the roster. Wednesday’s are “Show & Tell” – each child gets a turn per the roster. Friday’s are “Bakers Day – Mini Masterchef”. Story Book Roster – Each child gets a turn to bring their own story book and be the “storyteller” (with a teacher) at the end of each day. School will be closed on public holidays and days stipulated by the Education Department as “holidays” in the event of official public holidays falling on a Thursday or Tuesday. The school is closed from mid-December to mid-January of each year. DAILY ROUTINE These times are just a guide and the programme for the day / week could deviate from this. We follow a specific THEME every term and most activities are based around the Theme. Should your child be staying for aftercare we will reapply sunscreen if the children will be participating in water play. HATS must be clearly marked for hygienic reasons and placed on the hooks provided. FORMALITIES Should it happen that this is not the “right” environment for your little one, I reserve the right to make a recommendation to you of a school that may be of more benefit to your child. This decision will not be taken lightly and will only be taken after all avenues have been explored and one-on-one meetings with both the parents have been officiated. Please note: It is possible that on the rare occasion I may need to take a few hours off school to attend my own children’s school events. You will be given timeous notification thereof, where you could then decide not to send your child to school that day. Please be reassured that I will ensure that we have enough teachers on duty who will love & care for your children in the event that I am away.
