™
is a great way for young kids to
learn two important preschool skills – how to cut with scissors
and how to recognize left and right. In addition, children practice
taking turns, drawing cards, counting, and sharing. The game has
three levels of play with specific rules designed for age and developmental capability. As a child grows, she moves to the next level
of play, from 3 years old to 4, then 5, and 6, adding complexity at
each age and level.
All Peaceable Kingdom Preschool Skills-Builder Games are cooperative. All players play together against a common obstacle, not
against each other. Players help each other, no one is left out, and
everyone wins or loses together. Cooperative games build a feeling
of security for the youngest children learning how to play games
and they build self-esteem and cooperative habits in older kids.
Instructions
OBJECT
Uh, oh! The little bugs are caught in Willy’s wiggly
spider web. Help free the bugs by cutting them out of
the web and letting them fall to the ground. Be careful.
If Willy falls from the web before you free all 10 bugs,
the game is over and everyone loses. Free all 10 bugs
and keep Willy on top of his web and everyone wins!
While all game levels have the same object,
each level adds developmentally-appropriate
challenges to the game.
SET UP
LEVELS
The set up of the web is the same for all levels. Build
the web by inserting the dirt end of each post into a
slot in the base – one post in each slot. For best stability
leave the base in the box. Stretch out 1 paper web and
attach it to the top of each of the posts by gently
slipping an outermost loop onto a post’s hook.
Pop out the bugs and Willy. Connect the 2 Willy pieces
and place him anywhere on top of the web. Place the
bugs in the web so that they are spread out around the
web and standing upright.

PASS LEFT OR RIGHT!
E S 4-5
What you need
Scissors and Level 2 cards. Level 2
cards have a picture of scissors.
How to play
Remove the Level 3 cards and shuffle the
deck. Place the cards face down where everyone can reach
them. This is the draw pile. The first player draws a card and
follows the instructions on the card. There are 2 instructions
to follow on each card – make a specified number of cuts to
the web and pass the scissors to the LEFT or RIGHT.
1 CUT
This card instructs the player to make 1 cut
and pass the scissors to the RIGHT.
ht
Pass Rig
Once a player has taken a turn and completed the cuts and
the pass, the card is discarded. The next player draws a card
from the draw pile and follows the instructions. The game
ends when all the bugs are free or Willy falls, whichever
happens first.
CUT 3!
ES 3-4
What you need Scissors only.
How to play The first player uses the scissors and makes 3
cuts on the web and then passes the scissors to the player to his
LEFT. The next player makes 3 cuts and passes the scissors LEFT
and so on. Have all players count together on every turn. Keep
passing and cutting, trying to free all 10 bugs from the web.
Variation 1: Pass the scissors to the RIGHT after each turn.
Variation 2: Count Up! Make 1 cut and pass the scissors to
the LEFT. Next player makes 2 cuts and passes the scissors to
the LEFT. The next player makes 3 cuts and so on. Count as high
as you can go or count up to 10 and then start again!

ES 5- 6
What you need
Everything! Scissors, Level 2 and
Level 3 cards. Level 3 cards have a picture of a chair.
How to play

thinking to the game.
Everybody
All players move 1 seat to the LEFT.
Move Left
Everybody
All players move 1 seat to the RIGHT.
Move Right
An Everybody Move card does not replace a turn. When
