TEAM BC MANAGER
JOB DESCRIPTION
ROLE OF THE TEAM MANAGER:
BC Wrestling is accepting applications for the position of Team Manager for the 2017 Canada Games in
Winnipeg. The Team Manager (often called a Team Leader) plays a critical role in the managing the team
environment, providing leadership and logistical support to athletes and coaches, and to contribute to
the overall success of the games. Athletes competing at the Canada Games have entered the next level
of their athletic development, and use the games as a pathway to higher levels of competition. The
Team Manager will work in cooperation with the Team BC Coaching Staff in preparing Team BC to
achieve optimal performances at the 2017 Canada Games. The Team Manager position may serve as a
valuable resource for persons interested in pursuing higher levels of team management at national and
international events.
LEVEL OF COMPETITION:
 Athletes must be 15 -18 years of age as of December 31, 2017 (athletes born 1999, 2000, 2001, and
2002).
 Each team will be composed of 22 athletes (11 women, 11 men )
 Format of Competition: dual meets on the first two days with individual competitions on the third
day of competition. Both the team and individual competition will be considered separate events.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
 Experience in previous multi-sport games is an asset.
 Experience in wrestling is an asset.
 Written and conversational proficiency in the French language an asset.
 Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
 Ability to performance under stressful conditions
 Completion of a criminal history check prior to commencing the position.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Before Games
 Primary point of contact or team liaison to all divisions of Team BC for Games planning,
preparation, execution and all aspects of the team’s security and daily movements.
 Be responsible for adhering to all Team BC deadlines with regard to request for information,
completion of forms, and media information; including opportunities for BC Wrestling to recognize
its athletes.
 Communication with Team BC operations regarding all team matters.
 Responsible for oversight of team processing at selection camps and competitions.






Attend all Team BC meetings before and during the Games.
Be responsible for the teams’ adherence to all rules regarding discipline at the Games. Additionally,
ensure that all athletes and team staff are aware of the rules set by Team BC or the Host Society
regarding expectations of conduct, curfew, internet and social media guidelines.
Read and understand the Team BC Athlete’s Handbook and Guide to the Games.
Organizes team training and selection camps with team coaches and BC Wrestling, including team
travel.
Confirm and certify eligibility of athletes.
Processes team registration upon approval of the nominations by the Executive Committee.
During Games
 Serves as communication link between BC Wrestling, Team BC, Wrestling Canada and the Host
Society. Key personnel that he/she will be working with is the assigned Mission Staff.
 Coordinates accreditation of athletes and coaching staff.
 Communicates travel and logistics to coaches, particularly regarding week 1 and week 2 turnaround
of men’s and women’s teams.
 Ensures team uniform requirements are met with the help of BC Wrestling staff.
 Manages finances of team.
 Serves as a general resource to the coaching staff over any matters requiring attention.
 Coordinates any team, family and friends functions.
 Be responsible for the teams’ adherence to all rules regarding discipline at the Games. Additionally,
ensure that all athletes and team staff are aware of the rules and set by Team BC or the Host
Society regarding expectations of conduct, curfew, internet and social media guidelines.
 Manages team operations and logistics, including:
 Transportation
 Team BC apparel and competition uniforms
 Housing & Meals
 Tickets
 Ensure shipping of team equipment as necessary
Post Games
 Administers athlete evaluations, collects and produces summary report.
 Ensures all reimbursements for eligible out of pocket expenses for team staff are submitted on
expense forms.
 Reconcile cash advance and submit report.
 Resolves any outstanding issues not resolved during the competition.
 Be responsible for the Games wrap up (at the site), communication staging and travel logistics to
athletes and team staff.
 Travel with team to arriving airport and ensure each athlete is transferred to family or designates.
 Submission of post-Games report.
 Participate in a post-games program debrief session.

Committee.
 Qualified individuals should apply by Monday, February 29, 2016 at 4:00 PDT to be considered.
