Qualification – Level 2 Certificate for the
Children and Young People’s Workforce
Qualification - Level 2 Certificate in Playwork
This course will enable you to achieve the nationally
accepted Ofsted ‘full and relevant’ qualification to work
as an assistant in a pre-school playgroup, nursery,
children’s centre or for those working as childminders.
This course will enable you to achieve a level 2 qualification in
Playwork for practitioners who work, or volunteer, in an out of
school setting such as a breakfast or after school club and
those working in Holiday Schemes at Assistant level.
The qualification also includes fully funded First Aid and
Paediatric First Aid units which are an essential part of
this qualification.
During this course you will learn about Relationships, Health &
Safety, Safeguarding Young People in the play environment and
how to develop your teamwork and playwork practice.
You will either need to be working or volunteering for a
minimum of 6 hours per week in a suitable setting within
Devon to access fully funded Early Years and Childcare
Service funding to support your training.

Qualification - Level 3 Diploma in Playwork
First Aid – 1 day course
This course is aimed at more experienced Playworkers
and will enable you to achieve a Level 3 qualification. The
course includes Playwork Principles, Understanding self
directed play, Safeguarding young people, Engaging
parents, carers and families in a play environment, Health
& Safety and Working with Colleagues.
You will need to already be working in a suitable playwork
setting within Devon to access Devon County Council,
Early Years and Childcare service funding to support your
training.

FULLY FUNDED for eligible early years and playwork
practitioners across Devon (excludes Torbay &Plymouth)

This course meets all of the criteria from the Health and Safety
Executive for Appointed Person in the Work Place”. The 1 day
course covers primary and secondary care essential to this role.
There is a two multiple choice exams at the end of the course

Paediatric First Aid – 1day course
This 1 day course is additional to the First Aid course above and
by doing both courses (2 days in total) you are able to achieve
the 12 hours recommended by the Child Care Sector for the
appointed person to hold a Paediatric First Aid certificate as
required by Ofsted. There is a multiple choice exam at the end.

Food Hygiene – 1 day course
For anyone involved in the preparation of food, whether at
home, in the food industry or within care institutions. There is
a multiple choice exam at the end of the course. This course is
accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
£50 per learner – group bookings are available for
