NEW Practice Gear Requirement for all ASA Travel Players Arlington’s travel teams are coached by a fully professional staff. It is therefore important for our staff and players to represent a professional attitude. Part of this is establishing a uniform look amongst the players and coaches. Starting with the upcoming Fall 2013 season (October 1, 2013), Arlington expects travel players to participate in training wearing a uniform set of training gear. Wearing a training uniform is important because it reflects the Club's discipline standards. This conformity can improve performance by eliminating unnecessary distractions over attire. Further, wearing a uniform instills a level of club pride from all players, with each member of each team wearing the same gear. It reaffirms that while many of our players may be in different phases of their development, and within different teams among their playing peers, all players are equals in the eyes of the Club. There are also several practical applications. Having players in a common shirt makes it easier for the coaches to divide players for training exercises. A common shirt also serves as a signal for players that when the shirt it worn, it is a time for focus so that they can continue to learn about soccer. Lastly, a training kit with the Arlington logo and badge reminds players that they are part of something bigger than any individual player. Each player is a representative of our Club, and that badge and logo should serve as a constant reminder of the responsibility each player has to keep their focus, discipline, effort, and attitude at the level expected by Arlington Soccer. Thus, by October 1, 2013, the following will be worn by all ASA travel soccer players at team practices: Top: Any one of the following Grey ARLINGTON T-Shirt (introduced Fall 2011) Click to view T-Shirt Grey ARLINGTON Adidas Jersey (introduced for Fall 2013) Click to view Jersey Grey ARLINGTON Jersey (gift jersey given to all players in Sept 2013) Shorts: Adidas Royal Blue (any style Adidas Royal Blue shorts including last year’s and this year’s uniform shorts) Socks: Adidas Royal Blue (any style Adidas Royal Blue socks including last year’s and this year’s uniform socks) Many travel players currently own all of the above items and no additional purchase will be needed. If families would like to order either of the first two tops or an additional pair of current uniform shorts/socks please click on the EUROSPORT Ordering link. Then in the top left corner pull down menu select player’s team, then player, then select any items to order. In addition, please check out the Adidas Sample and Seconds sale on the club website as there are still a few royal blue shorts available for purchase. To help kick off this new policy, all ASA players will receive a gift practice jersey this Fall. Teams will be collecting sizes in early August and the jerseys will be made available to all teams by early September. These jerseys, funded by some “use it or lose it” money accrued by the Travel Program several years ago, will feature a technical fabric for greater comfort. We will post pictures of this jersey shortly on the club website. Looking forward to seeing all the ASA players out on the field in their ASA practice gear!
