The decidedly modern – fluorescent shoes

Old School
2012 ALL-NEBRASKA BASKETBALL
The decidedly modern – fluorescent shoes, anyone? – blended with the antiquated – yes, that’s a tile
floor – when the 2012 All-Nebraska basketball players met in the lane at Holy Name Fieldhouse in
north-central Omaha. At the time of its opening in 1950, the 2,000-seat gym that cost $200,000 to
build was the largest at any high school in town. Holy Name’s Ramblers, who beat Sioux City Heelan
in the gym’s first game, used the rounded steel-rafter facility until the high school closed in 1989.
