EXPLOSION-PROOF PRODUCT RANGE
COILS WITH ATEX II CERTIFICATION FOR ELECTROVALVES
INTRODUCTION
The explosion-proof coils are in compliance with ATEX 94/9/EC standards and are
suitable for the use in potentially explosive atmospheres, that fall within the ATEX II 2GD
either for gas or for dust classification, and the ATEX I M2. The statement of conformity
to the up-mentioned standards is always supplied with the coils.
ATEX CLASSIFICATION
The coil of the explosion-proof valves is identified with its own tag, which carries the relative ATEX marking. The mechanical construction
of the coil housing is made in order to ensure its resistance to possible internal explosion and to avoid any explosion propagation to
the outside environment, matching an “Ex d” type protection (explosion-proof coil).
The solenoid is designed to maintain its surface temperature below the limits specified to the relevant class. The R* coils (for alternating
current supply) contain a built-in rectifier bridge.
Here below you find the coils marking:

STRUCTURE
The coil block is composed of a lower part containing the coil itself and an upper part containing
the elements to be used for the electrical connection. These elements are:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
Terminal block
Screws for the cover fastening
Cover
Box
Internal grounding point
External grounding point
The cable gland must be screwed on the terminal block box, either on the upper part or
sideways. The cable gland itself is certified according to ATEX II 2GD and ATEX I 2M standards.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
In order to realise the electrical connection of the coil, it is necessary to access the terminal block
unscrewing the screws that fasten the cover.
It is important to connect both the internal and the external grounding point to the general
grounding line of the system, in order to ensure equipotentiality.
Electrical wiring must be done following the instructions of the rules in compliance with ATEX
standards.
