John Langdon Down is the first man who wrote a description of the condition in 1866. It got it’s name from Mr. Down. In 1959 professor Jérome Lejeune proved that it is a chromosomal irregularity. Short stature Weak muscles Shorter limbs Wide neck Irregular teeth Impulsive behavior Slow learning Short attention span Eye problems Most of the time, it is not passed down from parents. It is caused by a mistake in cell division during development. There is usually only a 1% chance the child will get it. If the mother is older, there is a higher chance.
