Family Information... Shirley’s Parents - Terrie & Ernust Lowery had 2 girls. Shirley is the oldest and Peggy is 3 years younger. Lived in Moberly, MO, and graduated from Moberly. She got married right after high school to Nicholas Davies in 1950 and they were married 63 years. They lived in Moberly area, had 3 children: son, Thomas Davies, two daughters; Diane & Lisa Davies. Shirley worked at Southwestern Bell as an operator for 5 years and then became a stay at home mother. Favorite Childhood Memory... Had lots of fun playing the accordion in her younger years. An acknowledgement is sent to the family of the loved one if an address is available. 83 Year Old Shirley Houghton of New Cambria has completed her goal of crocheting 150 stocking caps in various colors for the patients in the Mexico Veteran’s Home as a suggestion by her daughter, Linda Maddox, President of the Callao Auxiliary, Unit 360. Shirley started this project in March, while a patient herself in the Macon Health Care Center. She was instrumental in teaching fellow patients how to crochet the caps so they could have as much enjoyment as she. Shirley wants to thank Macon Health Care Center Activity Department, members of her church family and friends in New Cambria and Callao Auxiliary members for the donation of yarn toward this worthy project. Pillsbury refrigerated crescent dinner rolls 1/3 c. packed brown sugar 1 tsp. apple pie spice 1 can Libby’s pure pumpkin 3 eggs 1 can evaporated milk 2 T. cinnamon 1 tsp. nutmeg 1/2 tsp all spice 2 T pumpkin pie spice 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. granulated sugar 1/2 c brown sugar PUMPKIN CRUNCH CARAMEL CAKE Topping: 1 box yellow cake mix 2 sticks unsalted butter 1 T cinnamon 1 T pumpkin pie spice 1/2 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. granulated sugar 1 c. chopped walnuts Heat oven to 375º F. Line cookie sheet with cooking parchment paper, or grease cookie sheet. Set aside. In small bowl, toss apple slices in 1 T. of the melted butter; set aside. Separate dough into 8 triangles. In small box, mix brown sugar and apple pie spice. Divide mixture evenly among triangles. Top each triangle with apple slice. Starting at short side of each triangle, wrap dough around apple. Place on cookie sheet. Brush with remaining 2 T melted butter. Bake 10-12 minutes or until crescents are deep golden brown and apples are softened. Cool 5 minutes before serving. The Residents helped make these & they were yummy! Preheat oven to 350º F. Mix together eggs, sugar, pumpkin, vanilla & spices till smooth. Parchment line your baking 9x13 pan. Add wet mixture. Now top with dry cake mix, pat down lightly. Add your butter, sugar and spices in pan till u get a caramelized color, stir till your desired consistency and color. Now add your walnuts to cover top of dry cake mix, once evenly distributed add your caramel sauce, try to coat all of dry cake mix and nuts. Bake 350º F for 55-65 minutes till set. Let cool at least 3 hours. Serve with Cool Whip, and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice.
