You need to use your imagination, and truly get inspired! Your job is to choose any TWO objects and/or people from our current unit of study. You will combine them in a symmetrical and awesome piece of artwork! Your task is to use tons of creativity, colour, and imagination to make your art more effective and impactful! Your images can be of varying sizes, moods, colours, and so on……..it is basically any two of your favourite objects from our unit. Overall, you will design and create a piece of historical artwork made entirely of two images. You have the opportunity to exhibit your artistic ‘genius’ and have some fun! Maybe even one day you could hit the ‘top ten charts’? Well, here is your chance! Overall, your task is to write a creative and compelling song surrounding the topic you have chosen. Your written lyrics should be typed, double spaced, and meet all of the length requirements below. Please follow the provided instructions, and make sure your song includes all of the important elements. Therefore, you should follow the proceeding instructions to ensure that your song is the best possible song it can be! Remember to use all of the provided class time effectively, and don’t be afraid to ask for my assistance. It is important that you choose a topic you enjoy, and get excited about your song! Overall, you should end the Unit on a high level, and have fun! “Helpful hints” A basic song must contain Verses, Chorus, and Bridge. Your song should explain something or tell a story in a logical order. The song needs to be written with passion and a clear vision from beginning to end. Creativity, description, and details add to the historical quality of your song. Remember the following as you write your song and refer to the attached rubric. Also, your song may ‘mirror’ a real song…..which means you take a real song and change the lyrics to be from World War One. It’s an awesome idea…and allows you to focus on one of your favourite songs!! Choose a genre of music you love! (Hip-Hop, Rock, Ska, Punk, Country, etc.) Brainstorm tons of ideas and choose a ‘song topic’ that you really enjoyed! Choose a historical figure and event you would like your song to focus on! Use lots of rough notes and write everything down. You will never know when you want to use some of those ‘old ideas’ in your final version Avoid plagiarism! Don’t copy any existing lyrics or cover art. Let your song have a ‘feeling’ and use emotional lyrics to set a mood (happy, sad, etc.) Remember to have as many factual Canadian historical events or personalities as possible! Examine your favorite songs and well- written songs for inspiration and suggestions. Create a ‘catchy’ title for your song, which will hopefully grab your listener’s attention. Keep to the story you are telling. Do not stray or go off on a tangent. Let your song tell a meaningful ‘story’ and convey a certain message Make sure that the events in your song happen in a chronological order. Do not skip around in your telling of the story. Use great vocabulary. You want to show that you have a good command of words and can go ‘above and beyond’ with your vocabulary! Use similes, rhymes, and strong verbs to enhance descriptions. Get feedback! Ask all friends and family for their musical input and advice. Song Format and Requirements Songwriting comes easy for some, yet it can be very difficult for others. Therefore, if you follow the specific instructions, you can make the process much more manageable. Overall, you should try many ideas and keep working towards an awesome final version of your song. Here is the basic formula: verse, chorus, verse, chorus…….bridge, and chorus. Creating Your Own Historical Video Game… Have you ever wanted to be a video game designer? Is there any part of the 1920’s 0r 1930’s you’d like to re-live or re-create? Well, here is your chance! You are going to design your own unique video game surrounding aspects of 20’s and 30’s culture! You need to ‘pitch your idea’ to the video game executives, and pretend that your report holds the future of your game! You are going to write a proper report outlining the specifics of your game, and make an elaborate cover for your game! First, you must choose a category of that era (Booming Economy, flappers, women, stock market crash, riding the rails, Philosophy, Olympics, and so on…) that we have studied and learned about in our course. Secondly, your task is to design a creative and compelling video game surrounding your category and incorporating as many events and/or persons we have studied this semester. This task will consist of Two sections; Written Report & Genuine Illustrated Game Cover. Video Game Report Outline These are the major questions that must be answered when writing your detailed written report outlining your video game. Your report should be at least 300 words. Try to answer each of the following questions, and your report should include as many references as possible to class material and independent research. You may choose a famous Canadian or just a typical person from the era. You have the opportunity to exhibit your artistic ‘genius’ and have some fun! You will write a proper ‘Movie Review’ surrounding these two pivotal decades presented in the film ‘Cinderella Man’ that we watched in class (at least 300 words) Also, use the provided outline to make sure you’ve included all required information and can achieve at your highest level!
