Traffic Flow Reminder
 Please use caution in the stop and drop-off lanes. Students should not be cutting across the driving
lane to get to vehicles. Please encourage them to use the sidewalk or wait until the car has pulled up
to the pedestrian crossing zone.
 Please note that the parking lot is not to be used as another stop and drop-off lane. Constant traffic
flow presents a danger to pedestrians. Your help with this would be appreciated!
After-School Arrangements
 When students have after-school arrangements that vary from day to day, parents are reminded to
send a note with their student so there is no confusion about pick-up or bus routes. If a note has
been forgotten, please call the school, 325-4435.
School Website
 Check out our school website – the website address is:
http://web1.nbed.nb.ca/sites/ASD-W/TownsView/Pages/default.aspx
 We use our school website to promote and inform the parent community, newcomers, staff &
students, and community stakeholders of what is happening at Townsview School. If you have some
time – check us out.
Calling the School
 If you contacting the school by telephone, you can call 325-4435. If you are calling before 8:15am, or
after 4:15pm – your call will go to voice mail. The office hours for our office admin staff is from
8:15am-4:15pm. If your call does not get answered, we ask that you wait and call again or leave a
message. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
Head Lice
 Please remain vigilant and check your child’s head for lice and nits on a regular basis as this can be an
ongoing issue throughout the school year. If you are checking your child’s head and discover live lice,
please notify the school, use a shampoo treatment on your child, and remove any nits before allowing your
child to return to school. Please note that all calls and information are always confidential.
 Keeping your child’s hair back in a ponytail or up in a “bun” does help to lessen the opportunity for lice to go
from head to head.
 If you would like someone at the school to check your child’s head for lice, please contact us and we will
make arrangements.
Middle School Students Going Home for Lunch at Noon Hour
 Townsview students who are in middle school and considered to be walkers will be permitted to go
home for lunch at noon hour. If you are not considered a walker then you must remain at school and eat
your lunch in the cafeteria. All students must sign out when they leave for lunch and sign back in upon
their return to school.
Cafeteria Services
 Chartwells is our cafeteria provider. We have sent a menu home with each of the children and we
have posted a menu on our school website.
 If you have any questions in reference to the cafeteria you can contact Stacey Cronkhite at the
school, her phone number is 325-4315.
Pre-K Days for Kindergarten Students starting in the Fall of 2017-2018

attend pre-K sessions at Townsview on either the mornings or the afternoons of May 8th and 9th. If
you did not receive a letter, please contact the school.

Grades K-5 School Supplies Information for 2017-2018
 For your convenience, Townsview School will be offering parents/guardians the opportunity to purchase a
School Supply Pack for the 2017-2018 school year. This will be offered to K-5 students only. The cost of the
school pack is $45.00 per student and will include all the supplies needed with the exception of book bag,
lunch bag, and indoor sneakers.
 Look for the school supply pack order form to come home June 1st and return it to the office with payment by
Thursday, June 22, 2017. Cheques are to be made payable to Townsview School, (please do not post-date
these cheques) and if you are paying cash, we ask that you provide the exact amount as we are limited to
providing cash back. Payment must be submitted with your order form. After June 22nd, you will be required
to purchase your child’s school supplies on your own as the school pack will no longer be an option.
 For those families who do not wish to purchase their school supplies through the school, we will
also be sending home your child’s school supply list in their report card envelope on the last day of
school, which will be June 23rd. The school supply list for each grade level will be posted on our
school website http://web1.nbed.nb.ca/sites/ASD-W/TownsView/Pages/default.aspx, we will also
provide the local stores with each of the grade level school supply lists.
Grades 6-8 School Supplies Information for 2017-2018
 If you have a child in grades 6-8, you will be provided a school supply list in your child’s end of year report card
envelope. Parents/Guardians will be required to purchase their child’s school supplies.
 Townsview School will not be offering the option to purchase the school packs at the middle school level.
 In addition to school supplies, your child will have a $30.00 student fee to pay (only for grades 6-8). These fees
are collected at the start of each school year to support both extracurricular and instructional activities that take
place both inside and outside the classroom.
 Your child will also be provided with a student agenda, and a school lock for their locker.
 Students will not be permitted to bring a lock from home and will be required to use only the school lock that is
provided to them.
 If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school. Thank you.
Dress Code
 We are seeking your support for our dress code.
 Students and staff are not to wear clothing that advertises drugs, alcohol, or has suggestive or obscene
materials on it. Bare midriffs, bare backs, spaghetti straps, low-cut shirts, tube tops and muscle shirts
are not acceptable for a positive learning environment. “Dressing for modesty” is the key.
Townsview School Motto
“Preparing All Students for Success in a Changing World”
Thank you
The Townsview Home and School would like to thank everyone who has
supported us over the past year by attending our events, donating their time and
donating some wonderful baked goods. Some of our events included a spring
yard sale, 2 movie nights, a bake sale, candy cane-o-grams as well as providing
refreshments at the bi-monthly middle school dances.
With your generous donations, we have been able to purchase some new
items for our school. Some of those items include toboggans, a Christmas tree
for the Festival of Trees and sensory items to be used in the classrooms. This
year we are proud to provide 2 spin bikes for the school. These stationary bikes
have been proven to help students regulate energy, boost moods and relieve
stress. When a child feels a little anxiety, they can hop on the bike for 2 minutes
and it helps them calm and release some energy.
“I like it because you get a little pause from your work
and then when you come back to your desk you’re more
focus and ready to work!”
“It helps you think better and you can still hear the
teacher.”
“It is very fun and a good source of exercise.”
