Flyers - Porcupine Blues go to game three of series
The Foam Lake Flyers and Porcupine Blues are tied at a win apiece in their
series with game three to decide the winner being played on Friday night
in Porcupine.
The Foam Lake Flyers
and Porcupine Blues will
meet in game three of their
series this Friday night in
Porcupine Plain to determine who will go on to play
the Hudson Bay Hunters in
the semi-finals.
The Flyers bounced back
from a 10-1 thrashing at the
hands of the Blues last Friday night in Porcupine Plain
to win game two of the best
of three 7-6 on Sunday afternoon in Foam Lake.
The Flyers Justin Zadorozniak came through with
some late game heroics in
game two. Justin scored his
second goal of the game
with just 22 seconds left in
regulation time to give the
red, white and blue the win
and keep the Flyers alive in
the series.
The win on Sunday afternoon sets up game three to
be played on Friday, February 8 in Porcupine Plain.
Justin Zadorozniak lead
the Flyers with two goals,
JJ Cote, Tyler Bugera, Vern
Shingoose, Katlin Blight
and Logan Kristjanson had a
goal apiece.
Tyson Miazga had two
goals for the Blues, Ryan
Grona, Kody Dzurka, Brian
Farley and Ryan Kehrig had
one goal each.
The Flyers had a full
bench for game two of the
series and that seems to be
the key to winning.
The Flyers have played the
majority of their games this
season with a short bench
but in the games where they
have been able to ice a full
bench, they have been very
comptetitive and probably
should have had a few more
ticks in the win column.
On Friday night, as the
10-1 score indicates the
Blues controlled the game
with the Flyers only goal
of the night coming off the
stick of J J Cote.
Ryan Grona had a hat trick
for the Blues; Brian Farley,
and Brody Wearing had two
goals each while Tyson Miazga, Jamie Maynard, and
Kirk Smith had singles.
There are no scoresheets
available for either game.
In the other series, the
Wadena Wildcats move
on to meet the Kelvington
Wheat Kings in the next
round after getting by the
Kamsack Flyers.
The Kamsack Flyers won
the opening game 8-5 in
Wadena.
The Wildcats escaped
elimination in game two
winning that game 6-5 in
overtime in Kamsack and
in Wadena on Sunday, the
home town Wildcats beat
the Flyers 10-3 to move on
to the next series.
The winner of the Foam
Lake - Porcupine series will
meet Hudson Bay in the best
of five series.
Game one of that series
will be played on Saturday
in Hudson Bay.
The Fishing Lake Hockey
