Netball Northern Zone - Beko Netball League - Assistant Coach Netball Northern Zone is seeking to appoint an Assistant Coach to work alongside the Beko Head Coach and the Netball Northern Zone Beko Netball League Squad. Netball Northern Zone Netball Northern Zone is one of five Regional Sporting Organisations in New Zealand who work in partnership with Netball New Zealand for the delivery of Netball throughout the country. Our geographical area stretches from Waiuku in the South up to Kaitaia and the Far North. We have 17 Netball Centres located throughout our Zone and a playing membership of over 47,000 participants which makes up over 30% of the playing population in New Zealand. The SKYCITY Mystics are our ANZ Elite Netball League team which compete in the newly formed NNZ Elite. Netball Northern Zone has 4 key values which underpin everything that we do which are Unity Integrity Loyalty Excellence Purpose of the Netball Northern Zone Beko Netball League Programme: The core purpose of the Beko Netball League Programme for Northern Zone is to develop the whole person for future high performance which includes athletes, coaches and management. Contract Period: The role will be for a period of approximately 8 months from December 1, 2016 to the end of June, 2017. ROLE DESCRIPTION: The core purpose of the Netball Northern Zone Beko Netball League Assistant Coach is to support the Head Coach in the development and implementation of the Beko Netball League and coaching plan and foster the development of a Performance Culture within the Beko squad. While the Head Coach has overall responsibility of the Programme, the Assistant Coach will be very much an integral part of the coaching team. More specifically the Assistant Coach will: 1. Assist in the development and implementation of the overall programme and coaching plan. 2. Assist in the selection process of the Netball Northern Beko Squad. 3. Lead the development of a specific area of the court which applies to your skillset, knowledge and expertise. 4. Assist in the planning and implementation of team trainings and at times lead team trainings. 5. Assist the Beko Head Coach in the delivery of effective trainings 6. Assist the Head Coach with training & match debriefs and ensure constructive feedback is given to all squad members 7. Assist the Beko Head Coach with opposition analysis and development of team strategies necessary for the Northern Zone to be successful in the Beko Netball League. 8. Assist the Head Coach & other support staff with the IPP process to ensure all squad members have a clarity on their development areas. 9. Work with the Beko Head Coach and support staff to develop a performance environment that is focused on developing the whole person for future high performance. 10. Provide input into the selection of the Northern Beko squad for each squad. 11. Assist the Beko Head Coach to develop IPP’s for each individual athlete and assist in regular 1on1 meetings with athletes to ensure quality feedback is provided. Professional development: The successful applicant will also have access to SKYCITY Mystics coaching team for mentoring opportunities and will have access to the Northern Zone Performance Coach Programme. Preferences: It is expected that the Assistant Coach will be a leader in the Zone for other coaches and be available if required to assist with Centre Representative coaches in a development capacity or with young identified players in specialist skill development sessions. It is highly preferred the Assistant Coach is domiciled in the Northern Zone. It is highly preferred the Assistant Coach is not aligned in a coaching capacity with any club and/or school team throughout the Beko Netball League Programme so there are no perceived bias towards any players from a particular club or school. This also allows the assistant coaches the opportunity to observe club netball from a selection viewpoint if and when required, and also to ensure that this role is given the focus and attention required to ensure a successful performance programme is planned and implemented.
