NB: If you want your nominee to be the winner of the final accolade of the night please make sure you
include information on how s/he has made a significant Contribution to both Health & Social Care
during the 2016/2017 year on each category nomination form. The most obvious and brilliant Overall
Contribution to Health & Social Care from all 23 category Finalists as decided by the nomination panel of
judges will be the final accolade of the Award Ceremony night
1. Care Home Registered Manager
This award will be given to the registered manager who has demonstrated a high level of expertise
together with exceptional skills in managing the complex business of running a care home. It will be
important for the nomination to show the judging panel how you think this manager’s skills differ from
that of a Home Care or Supported Living manager. The person will show vision in developing person
centred care and demonstrate an ability to provide high levels of support for staff to meet the ever
changing needs of service users. The following are some of the skills you may choose to use/name to
demonstrate why you are nominating this person:
 Is able to demonstrate a high level of expertise together with exceptional skills in the complex
business of managing a care home.
 A manager who demonstrates the ability to change to meet the new social care priorities – can say
how they have improved the care.
 Demonstrates their commitment to good practice in person centred care and support.
 Demonstrates a commitment to dignity and privacy for clients.
 Is able to demonstrate how clients and/or relatives/carers participate in the development of
service.
 Examples of how client(s) have benefited.
 Can show satisfaction of clients.
 Demonstrates a commitment to learning and development activities and can give an example(s) of
staff development.

 Can give an example(s) of leadership best practice: induction; supervision and appraisal systems;
continuing professional development; qualifications and achievements i.e. they can say how they
have improved these or why they work well.
 Can give an example of supporting staff.
 Can show how they keep up to date with the latest information.
2. Domiciliary Care Registered Manager
This award will be given to the registered manager who has demonstrated a high level of expertise
together with exceptional skills in managing the complex business of providing support and care for people
in their own homes. It will be important for the nomination to show the judging panel how you think this
manager’s skills differ from that of a Residential Care or Supported Living manager. The person will show
vision in developing viable quality services and demonstrate an ability to provide high levels of support for
staff to meet the ever changing needs of service users. The following are some of the skills you may
choose to use/name to demonstrate why you are nominating this person:
 Is able to demonstrate a high level of expertise together with exceptional skills in the complex
business of providing help for people in their own homes.
 Can demonstrate how they have had to manage change to meet the new social care priorities –

This award will be given to the manager (NB: this person’s job description and role may or may not hold
as part of its title the words “Registered Manager”) who has demonstrated a high level of expertise
together with exceptional skills in managing the complex business of running a supported living service. It

will be important for the nomination to show the judging panel how you think this manager’s skills differ
from that of a Home Care or Residential Care registered manager. The person will show vision in
developing person centred care and demonstrate an ability to provide high levels of support for staff to
