EU Heads of State and Government commited fast
start finance in December 2009:
2.4 billion annually for the period 2010-2012
This is one third of the collective fast start commitent
of developed countries within the Copenhaguen
Accord and complements substantial existing EU
climate finance flows towards developing countries

Ongoing fast start initiatives supported by MMSS and the
European Commission
¾Quick mobilisation of money: Contributions through existing
multilateral and regional institutions and bilateral channels.
¾Bilateral and Multilateral distribution: 23 Member States and the
European Commission representing almost two-thirds of the confirmed EU
pledges for 2010 have already decided what type of channels will be
used. 61% of this amount (943 M€) will be channelled through bilateral
channels and 39% (598 M€) through multilateral channels.
