Today’s Objectives
By the end of this session, you will be able to:
 Compare and contrast the 2015 online FFA awards with the 2014
applications.
 Understand how to access and complete the 2015 online FFA award
applications.
 Turn in applications by the required deadlines.

Summary of New Award Applications
 Completed through AgCN/ www.ffa.org










• Web based access shared by student and teacher to review and assist
Records from AET will transfer into the application
• You can unlock (in the instructors page) and then enter into the application.
Printed and formatted as PDFs with page and version numbers
Cells are automatically saved as values are entered
First sections are entry pages for inventory, finances, and hours with the final
sections for student review
Users can select their type of SAE and see only applicable sections
Reduced number of checks and formulas that utilize values from multiple pages
New inventory sections are divided into two different current and non-current
sections
New productively invested and earned section provides a simple summary of
each needed value and illustrates the met or not met result.
Lines 29 and 30 have been replaced with an easier check of financial accuracy
Check sheet lists all items not met in red
• As they are met the values are removed to focus on remaining issues
• Financial checks remain on the page

 Each application has a version number
• The application version number on the footer submitted to state will be
the one judged
 If a national star application has “not met,” it will not be declared
 All signatures on signature page must be complete
 National FFA has added additional sections:
• Status, official dress photo, contact information, t-shirt size, mailing
instructions, and press release information

State Degree Applications
 State FFA Degree requirements:

Received a Chapter FFA Degree.
Have been an active FFA member for at least two years (24 months) at the time of
receiving the State FFA Degree
Have completed at least 2 years (360 hours) of systematic school instruction in
agricultural education at our above the ninth grade level, which includes an SAE.
Have earned and productively invested at least $1,000, or have worked at least 300
hours outside of scheduled class time through an SAE.
Demonstrated leadership ability by performing 10 parliamentary law procedures,
giving a six-minute speech on a topic relating to agriculture or FFA, and serving as an
FFA officer, committee chairperson, or committee member.
Have a satisfactory academic record, certified by the agriculture teacher and the
school principal or superintendent.
Participated in the planning and implementation of the chapter’s Program of Activities.
Participated in at least five different FFA activities above the chapter level.
Complete at least 25 hours of community service in a minimum of two different
activities. All community service hours are cumulative, i.e. the 10 community service
hours used to obtain the chapter degree can be used toward the state degree.

State Degree Applications
 Community Service Clarifications:
• The community service hours must be in addition to hours spent on
paid or unpaid SAE projects.
• The community service activity can be organized by the FFA chapter;
however, it must be performed outside of classroom time.
• Activities listed as community service cannot be duplicated in the FFA
activities section of the application.
• Participating on a school athletic team is a school related activity, but it
is not community service.
– Volunteering for a Little League, Pop Warner Football or community soccer
team coach would be acceptable.

American Degree Applications
 Each application has a version number
• The application version number on the footer submitted to the state will
be the one judged
 If a national star or degree application has “not met,” it will not be
declared
 All signatures on signature page must be complete
 All American FFA Degree applicants are required to provide e-mail
addresses.
• It is important that each applicant provides his or her own individual e-
mail address and not their FFA advisor’s e-mail address.
– The registration system will not allow duplicates. So, FFA advisors will not be
able to provide their e-mails addresses for more than one American FFA
Degree applicant.
 A status line for each certified application will show in progress,
accepted, or declined

 Community Service Clarifications:
• To receive an American FFA degree, members must complete at least
50 hours of community service in a minimum of three different
activities.
– The community service hours must be in addition to hours spent on paid or
unpaid SAE projects. The hours cannot serve a dual purpose in fulfilling both
community service and SAE requirements. These hours also may not be
duplicated to fulfill the Directed Lab requirement. All hours must take place
outside of regularly scheduled class time.

 Feb. 16, 2015: Deadline to register for state proficiency judging at Camp

Clements on www.tnffa.org
• Judges can register to stay the night at Camp Clements Feb. 27 and/or Feb. 28
• Breakfast and lunch on Feb. 28 will be provided
State Proficiency Applications: Printed PDF applications due by 8:30 a.m. at the
State Proficiency Judging at Camp Clements on Feb. 28, 2015
• A chapter proficiency award summary should also be submitted
– Proficiency award summaries, award information, and guidelines can be found in the
proficiency award guidelines section of the Tennessee FFA downloads folder.
– All applications should be taken back to their owners after judging
