Age divisions:
Beginner (8-10 years), Junior (11-13), Senior (14-18). Age on Jan. 1
Archers must be trained in range commands and safety before coming to a match.
Distances:
All bare bow at 15 yard distances. Freestyle beginners/juniors at 15 yards.
Senior freestyle at 20 yards.
Course of Fire:
Bare bow Beg/Jr/Sr. Total of 30 arrows /300 maximum points
FS Beg & Jr. - 30 arrows for 150 maximum points
Sr. Freestyle - 60 arrows for 300 maximum points (5 arrows/end)
Targets:
Bare bow participants only: NASP 80 cm faces
Freestyle participants only: 40 cm Vegas or 5 spot
Time Limit:
5 minutes allowed for each 5 arrow end.
Equipment:
A maximum draw weight of 55 pounds.
Styles:
Archers may register to compete in both shooting styles.
Freestyle - Recurve with Sights. Compound with Sights & Release
Bare bow – Compound or Recurve without Sights and Release
Teams:
Teams will be determined by scoring from county or school participants. The
top four individuals in each age division/county or school will make up a team
score. Each additional four scores will form the second team etc. In 4-H
Freestyle, top three on a team will count towards team placing. You may
compete individually. No limit on how many youth can shoot in the match
except if match limits have been exceeded.
Clothing:
A shooting glove and arm protection may be worn. Closed toed shoes are
required. 4-H clothing is preferred. Schools may wear their team shirt.
Scoring:
NASP targets are scored as per NASP guidelines. The 5 spot Vegas targets are
scored 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 on 40 cm target. They score 5, 4 on the 5 spot side.
Awards:
Plaques to the top team individuals and medals to top 5 shooters in each
division. Individual participation ribbons to the beginner division only.

You must register online for a shooting time by March 4. YOU CANNOT
REGISTER THE DAY OF THE MATCH.

Southeast District
The Southeast District Match is the fourth of several district archery events for the 4-H
year. All youth are invited to the bare bow match. Match is located in West Fargo at the
Red River Valley Fairgrounds in the Hartl Ag Building. 1805 West main Ave.
Barebow Open Division: The open division will use the top four scores in an age group
to determine the top team. The next four highest scoring will be the second team. There is
no limit on teams other than the match limit allows for participants.
4-H Invitational Freestyle Teams: The freestyle is limited to 4-H members. The four
highest scores in a county’s age division are used for the first team placing. Other teams
will be placed accordingly.
Registration: Everyone can register individually. The registration is
http://www.ndsu.edu/4h Register by March 4. Age division
is determined by youth’s age on January 1, 2017. Once your
registration is complete online, the time you selected is your
shooting time. Please write that down or print off the info
sheet on the checkout page. No late registrations accepted. We will send confirmation
emails. If you cannot register for a slot in the event, the flight limit has been reached.
NEW PARTICIPANTS, after you click on the 4-H Online logo select "I need to set up a
profile". Complete the Login Information and click on "Create Login". Complete the
Family Information window to create your family record and password update.
In the next window, Member List, “Add a new family member” will appear. Select this
menu bar and choose “Youth” And then, “Short Term Member” bar will be selected. This
is where your participant’s profile and contact info will be completed. Click continue, and
the family page should appear, then scroll down to the box “Register a Member for an
Event”, select your youth from the drop down menu, then “Event” select the event you
are registering for. You can only register once for an event. Once this is complete, you
will submit it. Our county will approve the status of your child through email.
Coach Information: Doors will open at 8:45 am on Saturday morning. You do not
have to arrive until half hour before your flight. Coaches are to inspect all archery
equipment before leaving from home or after arriving at the match site. We will not
supply any equipment. It is the coach or parent’s responsibility to verify the youth’s bow
meets tournament guidelines. Bow maximum poundage is 55 lbs. for indoor. Any
equipment that is found not meeting the guidelines will be disqualified. We will inspect
all bows.
Your time on the range must run safely and efficiently. Archers must
be trained in range commands and safety before coming to a match.
We will use whistle commands consistent with NASP standard guidelines. We will
supply the NASP arrows for bare bow or you can bring your own. Hip quivers are
acceptable. Your youth is expected to arrive 30 minutes early and be ready to go for their
shooting relay.
You will be required to stop at the check in table. Please bring at least a couple extra
arrows in freestyle. You may use a hip quiver. Contestants will score each other’s arrows
and report to range officer when the round is finished. Once your relay is completed,
please have the youth pack up their equipment.
Awards:
Score cards will be placed on the award table when completed. Plaques will be awarded
to the top team and 5 individuals in each age and bow division. Awards will be handed
out after last relay in the age division match or mailed. Individual participation ribbon
awards to beginners only.
