More than 25,000 students and 3,500 faculty and staff call the U of A home. The U of A campus overflows with beauty and history. Its most recognizable feature is dual-towered Old Main, the campus’ original building. Senior Walk, a sidewalk leading from Old Main’s front doors, lists all former U of A graduates and stretches more than five miles. Among the alumni etched in the pathway are Robert Mauer, inventor of fiber optic technology; Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys; Ronald LeMay, Sprint’s CEO; and J. Walter Keller, developer of the heart pacemaker. The U of A offers a high caliber education, with 216 undergraduate and graduate programs in nine schools, and it’s the only major research university in the state. Nationally, the University is ranked within the top 150 research universities. Yet the institution continues to hold a place among America’s 100 Best College Buys. Please note, commercial flights do not fly into Drake Field. NW Arkansas Regional Airport (XNA) – www.nwara.com Opened in 1998, XNA is home to five commercial airlines. It is located near the town of Highfill and is approximately 35 minutes from campus. The airlines servicing XNA are: Allegiant Air, American, Continental, Delta, Northwest, United, and USAir. The major automobile rental companies are on site.
