SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER VACANCY
The Allen Bowden School Board position #2 is currently vacant. The School Board welcomes anyone
that might be interested in serving in this capacity for the school district. IF interested please fill out
the APPLICATION listed below.

The School Board will be taking applications and then appointing a Board Member for Board position
#2 to finish out 2015. That person would then need to file in December, 2015 for that Board position
and be on the ballot for the next Board election in February, 2016. (IF the person would like to
continue serving as a Board member)

The School Board can be considered the governing body of a school district. They are the only elected
officials within an individual school district that have a say in the daily operations of that school
district. A district is only as good as each school board member that makes up their board.
The successful candidate will enjoy working as a team and collaborating with school administration
and other board members with the goal of improving education and the opportunity for the students
at Allen Bowden Schools. Experience with budgets, strong communication skills and demonstrated
ability to make sound business decision are a plus. While a high school diploma or GED is required,
additional education is preferred. Basic training and continued education is a State Requirement of
all Board members. A high moral and ethical standard is expected from all of those that serve.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – Needed to be on the School Board (Please check the one that apply to

Must be a registered voter. (In our School District- Creek County)

Must be a resident of the School District. (Please provide proof)

Must have a Minimum Education of a High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Cannot have been convicted of a felony.

Cannot be a current employee of the school district and/or related to a current
employee in the district.
****Becoming a School Board Member is a serious commitment. It takes quite a bit of time and
dedication to be an effective school board member.
