How does it work? In the lead up to the big day, teams raise funds to support their
incredible effort to pull a 127,000-lb lane down the tarmac at UPS at Vancouver
International Airport. On the day of the Plane Pull, Sunday June 25 2017, teams will be
divided into two “heats” or sessions of plane pulling. Each team will pull the plane one at
a time. Every team will be timed. After all teams have pulled, the team with the best time
will be crowned the Fastest Team. Prizes will also be handed out for Top Fundraising
Team, Top Individual Fundraiser and Best Dressed Team.
How much should we fundraise? Each team’s fundraising goal is $1,500. Each team
must raise a minimum of $750 before June 15th, 2017. If your team has not raised $750
by June 15, your plane pull spot is not guaranteed and a team on the waiting list will be
offered your team’s space. Space for this event is limited so secure your spot early!
Where does the money go? All dollars raised support United Way’s programs that
make life better for kids, families and seniors across the Lower Mainland. United Way of
the Lower Mainland is a registered charity that has served the community for over 85
years. Learn more at uwlm.ca.
Will my I get a tax receipt for my donation? What about people who sponsor me?
Yes, tax receipts will be sent to anyone who makes a donation over $25 by email
through the Giveffect fundraising site.
How many people can be on my team? Teams must have 15 members. If your team
does not have 15 people, volunteers will be available to help out your team by pulling
with you.
Who can be on my team? All 15 team members must be on site 1 hour prior to their
assigned pulling time with waivers signed in order to participate. All team members
must be over the age of 18. Kids under 18 are welcome to participate in the kids’ plane
pulls taking place throughout the day.
