than 50 years. The machines are used
for developing watch works, for the
final inspection after manufacturing
and for the inspection of the winding
mechanism for servicing purposes.
The professional watch winders move
the winding rotors of automatic
watches, imitating the natural movement of the wrist that carries a watch.
If the watches pass the test and they
have a sufficient power reserve after
winding, the watch work is classified
as stable-running and cleared for sale.

The professional Elma units provided the technical foundation for
the elmamotion which was one of
the units designed for use in private
households. Automatic watches
were constantly kept running to prevent the gumming of the oils inside
the watchworks, to keep the watches
ready for wearing at any time and to
make readjustment of complicated
watches unnecessary, e.g. of watches
with eternal calendar.

The composition of precious wood

One of the finest features of the Elmamotion style models is the presentation of the watches under a large
slanted window. The swing-top cover
can be opened wide and allows the
watches to be put in and taken out
very easily. The interior is lined with
high-quality velour. The core of the
unit is the functional drive and control technology of leading Elma quality.

should do and what it should look
like have changed largely. Just as
the watch works have become more
intricate, the owners of such valuable
pieces feel the need to have their
precious watches cared for in the
best possible way. Perfect technical
maintenance is one thing. But design
counts, too. The watch winder needs
to suit the valuable pieces in every
way and to present or discreetly store
them in a style that corresponds with
the personal attitude of their owners.

watches need to be wound in a nonwearing way which takes care of the

The elmamotion housings are
made of exclusive and high-quality
materials, fully „handmade in
Germany“.
The elmamotion style units come
in various designs: matte black or
shiny piano lacquer, completely
made of Macassar wood or with
integrated leather inlays, or of
brushed aluminum or carbon. The
stylish design and the excellent
manufacturing quality perfectly suit
any high-class interior decoration. A
special and very modern model is the
white high-gloss housing with white
leather applications on the sides.
The swing-top cover of all watch
winder models are real glass and
allow the perfect presentation of the
valuable pieces. The cover is siliconecushioned and slides shut with a
touch of the fingertip.

Mechanic watches should not
only be “fully wound up”, but be
operated using the full power of
their main springs
• sleeping phase: several hours (start
can be programmed individually)
of idle time per day allow the
main spring to unbend, prevent
unnecessary strain on the winding
mechanism and so serve to keep
the accuracy of the watch
Depending on the watchwork, a
mechanical watch has a special
winding spring and therefore
needs to be wound at an
individual winding speed.

650-1800 revolutions per day
guarantee the optimum winding
rhythm and prevent overwinding

The direction of winding is
preset by the manufacturer
• individually adjustable winding
directions: left-hand winding,

elmamotion corona
The watch winder series elmamotion
corona is available for two, four or
eight watches. The series comprises
a number of models in various different wood housings with glass or
wood doors.
The models 4 and 8 have a separate
drawer for storing up to three additional watches.
Real walnut wood inlays and the exclusive interior design plus the latest
technology mark the new series. The
selected woods are sanded by hand
at least ten times and are coated
with lacquer to receive their elegant
shine. The operating elements of the
electronic functions are discreetly integrated into the front.

setting of all watch parameter
• number of winding revolutions per
day (650 to 1800)
• right-hand winding / left-hand
winding or both alternatingly

• sleeping phase: imitates the
wearing of a watch on the wrist
