Category #1:
Game Plan
CAD: Designing Your Dreams
Learn computer assisted design (CAD) using
Google Sketch-up to create your own 3-D models
of bedrooms to jet planes. Then, learn to add
your own sense of style to your designs.
Robotics: What is NXT?
Build, modify, and program your own Lego NXT
robot to win an obstacle course competition.
Exploration
Outdoor Skills: Experience Nature
Come join us in the adventure of outdoor education
as we participate in activities in the
Great Outdoors. Emphasis is placed upon activities
such as camping, fishing, hiking, and other outdoor
activities that promote a respect for the environment
and that can be enjoyed for a lifetime. This group
will participate in an optional overnight camping trip.
Archery
Coding Create and Explore
Do you like to problem solve? Do
you like to create? Come with us on
a journey to combine these skills to
create and improve problem-solving techniques.
Coding is an outlet for personal expression
involving more than just programming.
Archery is a fun way to exercise the mind as well as
the body, developing a steady hand, a good eye,
and a disciplined mind. Hit a bull’s-eye as you learn
how modern archery equipment works, safety,
shooting techniques, and steps to archery success.
Once you give it a shot, you will be hooked!
Letterboxing – Explore like an Explorer
Chess – Strength in Strategy
Build your army. Strengthen your fortress. Go into
battle with your army. Learn to defeat your
opponent through forethought and discipline.
Category #2: Creative
Category #3:
Expression
Photojournalism: Through the Lens
Develop your photography skills. A picture says
1,000 words. What will your words say? Come learn
to speak your mind through a photographic
newsletter and show others the world around you.
Art: Come create the Thing
Come and explore your creative side by expressing
yourself using art as a medium.
Creative Writing – Explore your
Expressions
Writing workshops allow students to explore the art
of storytelling. All campers experience the joy of
creating and publishing their original work.
Letterboxing is a new kind of exploration
that allows students to seek out hidden
letterboxes by using problem skills to
follow the clues leading to the hidden
treasure. Students solve and follow
clues to find a hidden "treasure" -- containing a
stamp and a logbook.
Transportation
Students will be picked up at various sites around the
district.
Information about pick-up locations and times will be
provided only for students requesting bus
transportation.
Students must be at the bus location promptly for the
morning pick-up. The bus cannot wait for students
without being late to other campuses. Many campuses
may not have personnel on duty; therefore, it is very
important that parents stay with the students in the
morning and be waiting for the students when camp
dismisses. You cannot just drop them off! Students are
returned to the same campus where they were picked
up.
Choose your Adventure
Students will select 1 course from each
category and a 4th Wildcard selection
from any category to be used if the first
3 choices are full.
