Essential Question What is responsible citizenship and how is it applied in real life? Learning Goals With the video link and worksheet provided, students will be able to define the concept of responsible citizenship and determine how responsible citizenship is applied to real life. Overview Students will learn, through the use of listening and reading skills, the definition of responsible citizenship and how said concept is applicable to real life. Materials https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bwfo9aD5A8 Introduction (3 minutes) 1. Ask students if they can define good citizenship. (1 minute) 2. Ask students what would be some examples of being a good citizen (2 minutes) Activity (10 minutes) Show the video about being a good citizen (see link in materials).(4 minutes) Ask the students to retell the story. What happened first, second, last, etc? Ask students to explain what specific ways, according to the video, people can be good citizens. (3 minutes) Complete the handout on good citizenship and have the students do the drawing and sentence required in the worksheet. Closure (2 minutes) Close the lesson by asking students to state their own definition of good citizenship. Ask the students to state specific real life examples of actions that equate to good citizenship.
