The Riverview Minor Basketball Association Scholarship
--In Memory of Vince Lacey—
This scholarship is named for the late Vince Lacey who passed away in April of 2009 after a very
courageous battle with cancer.
Vince was a very passionate man who spent many years involved in the Riverview Minor
Basketball Association working with children of all ages. His goal was to make sure every child in
the program had the opportunity to play and instill the values of teamwork, competition and fair
play that would carry on with them throughout their lives.
This scholarship is not one that will be awarded solely for high academic achievement as Vince
believed that children should not be judged on just marks but for the overall footprint they
leave behind as well as the way they are looked up to by their peers.
Some of the criteria for this scholarship include:
** Applicants must be a current or former registered player of Riverview Minor Basketball
Association
** Applicants must be graduating from Riverview High School
** They must be a person that is looked up to by their peers
** They must have shown leadership through involvement in community or charitable
organizations
** They must be the type of person who shares the goals of Vince Lacey as mentioned above
