Y’s Menette's
Club of Amherst
Traditionally, a wife of a Y’s Man was
called a Y’s Menette and they sometimes
formed an auxiliary to the local Y’s Men’s
Club. Today, Y’s Menettes are women
who have chosen to join a Y’s Menettes’
Club - and a Y’s Menettes’ Club today is
no longer an auxiliary to a Y’s Men’s Club
but is an equal partner and has its own
programme to support the local Y’s
Men’s Club, YMCA and the community.
Y’s Menettes share the warm fellowship
of an international organization, by:



Participation;
Enjoying social activities which
often involve the whole family;
Attending Regional, Area and
International Conventions;
Learning of our friends and fellow
members in other countries through the
“Sister Club programme WHO ARE Y'S
MENETTES?
Y's Menettes are the members of Y's
Menettes Clubs.
Y's Menettes may be wives of Y's Men or
any women who wish to enjoy the fellowship
of Y's Menettes Clubs and assist in the
projects of Y's Men, the YMCA (Young
Men's Christian Association) and the
community.
Y'S MENETTES CLUBS - Are the partner organization in Y's Men
International, and share a common loyalty to
the YMCA.
- Offer their member Y's Menettes
opportunities for fellowship, personal
development and service.
- Have as their purpose - to plan and carry
out programs and projects of their own in
support of Y's Men Clubs, the YMCA and
their communities at Local, District,
Regional, Area and International levels.
- Adopt and finance the Y's Menettes
International Project which assists chosen
YMCA programs in needy parts of the world.
WHERE ARE Y'S MENETTES CLUBS
FOUND?
Being an International organization, Y's
Menettes Clubs are found in many parts of
the world, including Africa, Asia,
Australia, Canada, India, Scandinavia, South
America and USA
Many Clubs are linked through the Sister
Club program.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
Club fees determined by each Club.
Dues in some Regions and Areas.

The international Association of Y's
Menette's Clubs was started in Toledo
Ohio, 1922. Amherst Y's Menettes' Club
was chartered in 1958.
Mission Statement of the Amherst Y's
Menette's Club is "To acknowledge the
duty that accompanies every right"
The Amherst Y's Menette's Club is a
community service organization affiliated
with the YMCA and provides fellowship,
fraternity and fun for its members.
It seeks to serve those less fortunate in the
community, especially the youth, and to
support International YMCA projects by
raising funds towards worthy initiatives.
The club strives to maintain and increase
its membership while seeking to increase
the awareness and support of the
community for the work it does.

The Amherst Y's Menettes' Club offers its
members the opportunity to be a volunteer
within their community and to assist their
local YMCA.

two
organizations can promise you the
personal pleasure of fellowship and shared

Meetings
September to November
January to April
Every second Monday of the month at
7:30 at the YMCA on York St. The
meeting usually consist of a business
segment and an interesting and varied
program.

The Amherst Y's Menette's
Club is
involved in local and international
projects.
Locally:
various community projects
(some work but a lot of fun) as well as
their annual Christmas Programs that
continues to assist families at Christmas.
Meal teams for regular meetings - talk
about fun.

Internationally: somewhere in the world,
people are in need of our help, especially
the supply of Mosquito Nets for "Roll
Back Malaria" program.
Time of Fast: fasting of a meal and
donating monies towards international
development projects.
Brotherhood Fund: cash donations and
sales of stamps assist Y's men to travel to
other clubs within international for
educational and leadership development.
Alexander Scholarship Fund: named after
the founder of Y's Men's international,
this assists YMCA staff to further their
education in areas relating to the YMCA.
Youth Educational Exchange Programs:
opportunities for travel to other countries
for educational and cultural experiences.
