Pray! If you think God might be pointing you in this direction start talking to those
that care about you; such as your church leader, youth leader and with your family.
You can point them in the direction of our website (www.nflame.org.uk) and tell them
that we are always ready to talk with them or send them an information pack about
The GAP. If you think someone you know would like to do the GAP please let us know.
Either email [email protected] or phone 020 8881 2829.

INTERVIEW
JULY/AUGUST
the
If so the n:flame GAP year is a unique
opportunity to receive practical training and
hands on youth work experience - in church,
the community and schools in North London.
You need to be 18+, a committed follower of
Jesus and have a heart for young people.
about n:flame
The Trust was formed in 1999 and has developed to become a network of people from
different churches and denominations, with a shared passion to see Jesus proclaimed
vibrantly to young people and equip them to be evangelists among their peers.
With n:flame you will be given the chance to work with teenagers in secondary schools, help
to run the monthly worship celebrations, get involved with a young people’s discipleship
course called LET (Leadership & Evangelism Training) and experience
a mission trip.
accommodation
We aim to house you with a host family who are part of your
placement church, who will also provide all your main meals:
this will enable you to become part of the church community.
Previous students who have moved away from home and
become part of a different church for the year have gained so
much more from their GAP year.

training
You will not be charged for your accommodation, and as
previously mentioned we ask your host family to provide
your main meals. However, living in London is not cheap so
we suggest that as you work out the cost for the year you
incorporate a personal budget to cover living costs. You will
need to think about travelling on public transport, occasional
meals out, going to the cinema, buying a coffee etc.
We go into North London secondary schools to run lunchtime clubs,
assemblies, workshops, prayer spaces and lessons. A large part of
your time on The GAP will involve training and youth work experience
in schools which are local to your placement church. There is also
an additional option of n:forum, which is our drama team. We offer
interactive forum theatre workshops to schools tackling issues such
as bullying and self-harm.
Once a week you will have a training session which will cover
discipleship issues, theology, ministry training and personal spiritual
development. During the year you will also be given two assignments
to help develop your communication skills. We are sure this training
package will be very beneficial to you, but we expect that you will
learn most while you are actually doing the practical stuff for yourself
and are fully dependent on Jesus.
pastoral
The GAP is a great opportunity for your relationship with God to be
strengthened. We want to ensure that you are happy and settled with
us, so n:flame leaders and The GAP Co-ordinator will be available for
you to talk with at any time throughout the year. Your placement
church will also have support in place.
missions
There will be short-term missions throughout the year, especially in
schools and including one abroad. All team members going on the
international mission are expected to raise their own fare, but we will
discuss with you how to raise the necessary funds for this trip. This is
an opportunity to experience the amazing way in which God works in
the lives of people around the world, even though their culture may
be completely different from your own.
your church placement
n:flame works in partnership with local churches in almost everything
we do. This will involve hands on youth work in a local church setting,
alongside a full time youth worker who can mentor you throughout
the year. As soon as we have accepted you on the course we will
match you with a suitable church and you will become part of that
worshipping community.
We ask for a fee of £1500 which includes the speakers cost
for your training, the team building weekend, your place on
team away days, LE Training weekends, course administration
and much more. £700 needs to be paid by 1st September and
then two remaining instalments of £400 at the start of each
term.
For some this finance will be hard to find. We suggest that if
you feel God is telling you to do this year, then start praying!
Talk to us if necessary, and we will guide you through the
process of raising funds.
prayer support
Even more important than your financial support is that
people are praying for you. We would ask you to get at least
ten people who will be praying for you while you are on The
GAP. You then need to keep them updated throughout the
year. We can add them to our mailing list to receive regular
updates and prayer requests from n:flame.
