Purpose of
processing

Follow-up study possible 2022 at latest.
Personal data may be processed for the following purposes:
1) sending and receiving personalized messages
2) collection and analysis of indoor and outdoor location data obtained with the
CityTrack application
3) conducting preliminary and concluding surveys by means of electronic forms
4) enquiring the users’ willingness to participate in a potential follow-up study before
2022
5) contacting users, for example to notify them of changes in privacy policy and to
send customer satisfaction surveys
The e-mail address is used to link data from the points 2–5. The information
obtained this way is used for sending personalized messages to the users of the
application, for studying the user experience of the application, and as material for
scientific research in order to investigate the possibilities of indoor and outdoor
navigation.

Contents of
the data file
Information collected from the data subjects
- basic information: age, sex, occupation
- e-mail addresss
- location data, time of entering and leaving the area where meassages are being
sent based on location. These areas are located within the Tampere city centre, in
the vicinity of the University of Tampere and on the outskirts of Tampere city centre
- information about whether the data subject has used the offers or other services
sent through the CityTrack application
- information about the messages shown to the data subject
- information about the length of time the data subject has spent on viewing the
messages and when the subject has viewed the messages
- information about the user’s experience with the services offered through the
CityTrack application
- information about the user’s experience with the CityTrack application
- the model of the user's smartphone
- K-Group and S Group loyalty card number (optional)

Principles of
data file
protection
The data are collected through the CityTrack application and by means of
preliminary and concluding surveys. The preliminary and concluding surveys are
conducted using an electronic form provided by an external service provider.
The data will not be disclosed to other parties except the research group in any
form that would enable individual users to be identified.
The data will not be disclosed outside the EU or the EEA.

Grounds for keeping the distinguishing data
☒The data are analysed with distinguishing data because
users’ email address is the only way to combine the
different sources of data (see 4: 2-5) into new information
that can be used in scientific research and to develop the
application and user experience. In addition, through the
email address the permission for a follow-up study can be
asked.
