Norway claims first win in Intermediate Round against
Slovakia
In the first match of the day in Zagreb Norway won 33:28 (19:12) against Slovakia in their second
match in Intermediate Round.
Norwegians had great start in the match which showed to be crucial in the match. They made big
goal difference between them and Slovaks. After 30 minutes they were leading with seven goals.
Slovakia tried to pressure them in second half but difference was to big to catch. They managed to
reduce it to four goals but Norway again stepped up and returned their advantage to seven goal.
Six minutes before the end Slovakia closed the gap to only three goals
Best player in team Norway was Thomas Boilesen and in team Slovakia award was given to
Boris Resovsky.

"We have been working on our team work and values that we need to nourish in our style of play. I
think today we played good from the start. We achieved great lead in first half and remained calm
in second. We are very satisfied with this five goal victory. Now we must cheer for Russia because
we want to play for 9.-12. place because our goal is to be top 11 and qualify for World
Championship."

"We finally managed to get our game going. We had great beginning with great defense and won
the match for us. We got bad start to second half and we needed early time out and after that we
managed to get back on track we had in first half."

"We were sleeping in first ten minutes when Norway managed to get in five goal lead. We were
very nervous and our opponents used that. In second half it was much better but we made some
mistakes and we were not able to completely close the gap. We were three goals behind but
couldn't close it."

"I think our start of the tournament till maybe today was very weak but now we just said before
match that we have nothing to lose and we have to do everything we can to play good and achieve
good result. We didn't win in the end but we definitely showed better game."
