Position: Manager of Individual Giving Department: Development Reports to: Director of Development Basic function: Identifies, qualifies, cultivates, solicits, stewards and retains individual donors to support the key programs, missions, initiatives, projects and future growth of Brevard Zoo. Responsibilities: Participates with the Director of Development in all annual fund program elements with specific focus on identification of prospects, follow-up and relationship building with fund donors, and moves management process with identified prospects. Identifies, cultivates and stewards prospective and current major donors via a variety of strategic relationship building activities. Work with the Development Team and the Marketing to identify and secure individual sponsors and partners for Brevard Zoo events, campaigns, projects and naming rights. o Create a personalized strategy for each individual donor; detailing planned communications, actions, and events for that donor for the next year o Be personally cognizant of each and every individual donor, the individualized plan created for them, and the current status of that plan Manage fundraising goals, objectives, strategies, schedules and analysis of results for all Individual Donor programs. o Jaguar Society – design and implement effective stewardship activities for current members, cultivate and secure new members, elevate financial commitment, plan and execute Society events o Annual Giving Program – create and execute an individual, personalized communication plan throughout the year, cultivating individual gifts through highlighting current events and status updates about programs at the zoo o Planned Giving Program – manage a program allowing individuals to donate via estate and legacy giving o Memorial Program – with empathy, provide a means for individual donors to memorialize a loved one at the zoo via a particular addition, bench, fountain, etc. o Milestone Members – interface with Membership department to identify and cultivate Zoo members (3+ years) to move them to major donor status Manage the Administrative Coordinator to assist with all aspects of Individual Giving Supervise the maintenance of Donor Perfect (donor database system) and updating for precise and complete accuracy. o Update background info on each donor with notes after each communication o Interface with the Finance Department to track invoices and payments from all individual donors o Update shared calendar as needed; note planned cultivation events o Review calendar weekly and initiate communication with all necessary parties o Strategize with Senior Management to best utilize Donor Perfect Manage the acknowledgement and thank you of all donors o Establish a communications library for timely use that are personal and unique o Manage the process that all donors are thanked in a timely fashion o Create and implement a Jazzoo participant recognition program o Review all individual donor correspondence for precise grammar and accuracy o Create and implement the Celebration Garden plan; oversee all entries and interface with these donors; work with vendor to ensure timely completion of recognition Creatively assist the Marketing Department to create materials for the all Individual Donor Programs and the Zoo’s two major events: Safari Under the Stars and Jazzoo Alongside the Marketing Department, manage the Jazzoo Facebook page; optimizing for effectiveness Keep Director of Development apprised of the status of Jaguar Society, Annual Giving, Milestone Members, Capital Campaign and Event goals Utilize Desktop Publishing Software to create invitations, notices, programs, pamphlets and other print/digital pieces promoting donor programs and related events o Qualifications: Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university 5 or more years’ experience working as a fundraising professional A proven track record of outstanding performance as a fundraising professional with the capacity to close significant major gift solicitations Professional and interpersonal skills that include exceptional verbal and written communication, team building and growth with an openness and ability to accept new ideas and input from peers and community members Ability to provide compelling verbal presentations to small groups and public gatherings as a representative of Brevard Zoo Highly developed organizational skills and excellent time management skills Strong comfort and capability with social media and social media platforms Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to effectively prioritize work and complete tasks in a timely and accurate manner Ability to multi-task and manage the completion of multiple projects, often with shifting priorities Experience with DonorPerfect software desired Americans with Disability (ADA) specifications: This position is primarily a clerical/office position requiring light work (lifting/moving up to 20 lbs.) Some work will be exposed to outdoor environment when setting up/coordinating events Most work will be conducted at a desk, on a computer, and a phone. Work will require the visual acuity for these tasks and the auditory capability to conduct phone conversations.
