NEW FIRE ACTIVITY: No new fires reported Thursday as cooler temperatures and increased precipitation have
lowered the fire danger rating throughout the territory. Today, an additional 16 firefighters will be departing for B.C.
to provide assistance with the province’s fire situation.
CAMPFIRE AND BURNING RESTRICTIONS: Campfires permitted outside of Whitehorse city limits. Public is
reminded that burning permits are mandatory for any burning of brush, grass or debris. This also applies to
burning with a burn barrel or lighting an open fire for any other purpose than a campfire. Permits are free and
available at your local fire district or Energy Mines and Resources office depending on your region. *burning
permits are suspended or no longer issued when danger rating is moderate, high or extreme
