Creative Learning Officer TRICYCLE THEATRE 2017 is a hugely exciting time to join the team at the Tricycle Theatre, one of London’s leading producing venues as it prepares to reopen in spring 2018 following an extensive capital project. The project is set to deliver a raft of improvements, including an upgraded theatre with a new stage and seating, improved access throughout the theatre and backstage areas and better front of house facilities for all, including a new cafe space providing a more welcoming environment for audiences and the public. Under the leadership of Artistic Director, Indhu Rubasingham and Executive Producer, Bridget Kalloushi the Tricycle has played to 95% capacity for most of our in-house productions (including Red Velvet, Handbagged, The Father and The Mother) and successfully transferred productions to New York (Red Velvet at St Ann’s Warehouse) and the West End (Handbagged at the Vaudeville, The Father at Wyndham’s Theatre). The Tricycle stages at least six productions per year in our intimate and unique theatre. Of these plays, half are produced in house by the Tricycle’s artistic team, with other work staged in collaboration with national and international companies. Our ambitious Creative Learning programme aims to develop the imagination, aspiration and potential of children and young people. We invest in creating meaningful relationships with young people who are passionate about theatre but often have limited access to it. The Role Main Purpose of the job: To support the Creative Learning team in the day-to-day running of the department specifically supporting the running of workshops taking place across Brent. Responsible to: Creative Learning Director The Creative Learning Officer will support the theatre’s three-person Creative Learning team which includes the Creative Learning Director, Creative Learning Manager and Creative Learning Officer. The team lead a programme of work which divides into schools and pathways and young people and community, happening in community spaces across Brent as well as at the theatre. The officer will plan and deliver the Production arts programme alongside the Creative Learning Manager – Schools and Pathways. Main Duties: To support the CL team in the day-to-day running of the department. To support the planning and delivery of the new Production Arts programme: A programme to introduce and train 16-18yr olds in production roles, working closely with the Creative Learning Manager- Schools and Pathways. Liaising with directors, workshop leaders and session assistants to source resources for workshops, and coordinate their distribution across Young Companies, Schools and College groups. To participate in planning meetings. Attend and support Young Companies and Schools Workshops. Collate monitoring and evaluation reports from Workshop Assistants. To write and log all contracts and DBS checks for all artists/practitioners. To track, monitor and record all artist/practitioner invoices. To assist in generating and uploading website and social media content. To assist in the creation of flyers, posters and print. To support print distribution campaigns across community centres in Brent and Schools. To support the continual development of the Creative Learning Department’s digital presence To undertake any other reasonable duties as required by your Line Manager or Senior Management. To represent the company with diplomacy, discretion and courtesy at all times. Person Specification Essential Skills and Qualities An interest in working in a theatre Creative Learning environment A positive attitude with excellent self-motivation and ability to work on your own initiative Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work flexibly under pressure, to prioritise and to meet deadlines Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to work collaboratively and to connect and work in partnership with others internally and externally Knowledge of basic administrative procedures and systems including Microsoft Word and Excel Ability to work with diplomacy, tact and empathy Desirable skills and experience Experience of working with social networking platforms Experience of using Spektrix and Dotmailer TERMS AND CONDITIONS: Hours: 45 hours per week. Office hours are 10am to 6pm but during production periods you will be required to work flexible hours Salary: £23,000 p.a Annual Leave: 20 days per year plus standard bank holidays increasing to 25 days per year after 2 years’ continuous employment Probationary period: one month Pension: The Tricycle operates a contributory pension scheme for all permanent employees. The Tricycle’s contribution is capped at 3% of basic salary although the employee may contribute more.
