MACDONALD CAMPUS INTRAMURAL DODGEBALL RULES
Updated December 2013
1. Teams need a minimum of 6 players and are allowed a maximum of 10
2. A maximum of 6 players on the court per team at a given time.
3. Each team must have a minimum of 1 girl playing at each game (registered).
4. If less than 4 members attend a match, the match will be officially forfeited. However the game may still
be played and teams can be split up to even out numbers.
5. Match duration is 30 minutes - the team who wins the most games during this time is deemed victorious
6. A team wins by eliminating all opposing players by getting them "OUT". This may be done by:
a. Hitting an opponent with a live* thrown ball below the shoulders. (No kicking)
b. Catching a live ball thrown by your opponent before it touches the ground
*Live: A ball that has been thrown and has not touched anything, including the floor, another ball, another
player, official or items outside of the playing field (wall, ceiling, etc)
7. Opening Rush: Game begins by placing the dodgeballs along the center line – three (3) on one side of the
center hash and three (3) on the other. Players then take a position behind their end line. Following a
signal by the official, teams may approach the centerline to retrieve the balls. This signal officially starts
the contest. Teams may only retrieve the three (3) balls to their right of the center hash. Once a ball is
retrieved it must be taken behind the attack-line before it can be legally thrown.
8. If a live ball is caught, a team-mate of the player who caught the ball is brought back to play
9. When a ball is caught after ricocheting off of a team-mate and/or the wall, there is no
elimination/spawning on either side.
10. If a ball is successfully thrown through the opposing basketball net, all 6 team-mates are brought back into
play.
