Co-Curricular means students will be doing DECA activities in and outside of the marketing classroom throughout the school year. DECA not only encourages students to be active within marketing classes, but also within the community and within our school. The Co-Curricular Service Learning Grade Every 9 weeks: Students will have many opportunities to earn their Co-Curricular Service Learning DECA Grade. These opportunities will go toward 2 things: 1. The DECA Co-Curricular Service Learning Grade that will go into the Grade Book as a Grade and 2. These activities may count towards students’ community service hours for other class requirements. Learn & Serve Challenge: Every 9 weeks, students will have the opportunity to Learn & Serve by participating in 4 (or more) Co-curricular Service Learning Activities. On average, Broad Run DECA has around 5 to 10 activities per quarter to choose from to participate in. Recording the Co-Curricular Service Learning DECA Grade: Four (4) Co-Curricular Service Learning Activities Per Quarter (25 Points Each )= 100 Points. As students complete activities, they are to record them in the DECA Learn & Serve Challenge Binder or Bulletin Board. After students complete their 4 activities, they may complete extra activities for extra points. Students can earn an extra 25 points in the grade book per quarter for completing additional service learning DECA activities. The highest grade to earn is a 125/100! The first 4 activities are worth 25 points each. Each activity after that is worth 5 points each. The highest a student can earn is 125/100. The DECA Co-Curricular Service Learning Grade: Only grades worth 100 or more will be entered into the grade book. If a student chooses to not participate, the student will be excused and exempt from the DECA Co-curricular service learning grade. Remember, this grade is meant to help and boost up students’ overall grades, and it is not meant to hurt grades at all. Only 100’s or better (the highest a 125/100) will be entered. The Co-Curricular Service Learning DECA Grade Rules: •These points will only be accepted on or before the assigned due dates! These grades are the last grades to be entered every quarter. The CoCurricular Service Learning DECA Grade is all about actively participating in class, in school, and the community! Marketing teachers encourage all students to communicate how they are giving back, volunteering, or taking part in amazing things in their lives! The Marketing Teachers want EVERY student to be the BEST student they can be, academically, professionally, and through community service.
