Emergency Preparedness

A facilitated two hour session created by
AHS, Carya, Canadian Mental Health
Association and the Red Cross. The
intent of the workshop is to encourage
individuals to discuss, explore, discover
and develop their own personal EP plan.

This is a 90 minute introductory session that
will cover types of dementia, signs and
symptoms, simple strategies for improving
brain health and programs and services
available to support you.

During this workshop participants will learn
what, when and how much food they should
eat to be healthy and prevent chronic disease.
This presentation will explain the types
of living options in continuing care, as
well as how to access them. It will
describe the steps in transition from
initial contact, to moving to a living
option, including what to expect at each
stage and supports available for decision
making.

The Alberta Healthy Living Program is an
integrated community based chronic disease
management program. This program offers
pillars of service, group education, selfmanagement workshops, supervised group
exercise and one-on one nutrition counselling.

you will learn how to use nutrition

fun. It was designed to be easy to learn and

Advance Care Planning is an important part of
ensuring you get the healthcare you want even
if you’re unable to speak for yourself. Come
and learn about what’s involved in getting your
Advance Care Plan and Personal Directive in
place.
Megan from Safeway Pharmacy will be
talking about a number of health related
topics including medication safety,
vaccines to consider for those over 50 and
much more. There will be a question and
answer period after the presentation to
answer any questions related to
medications and prescriptions.

...is a card game using a 24 card pack (9,
10 J, Q, K, A of each suit). A two person
(team) plays against another two person
(team) and tries to prevent each other
from scoring tricks. The score is kept by
means of a board and pegs.
…is a ball sport using round balls (bowls). Each
team rolls 4 balls per side, trying to land their
team’s colour closest to the pallino (small white
ball) in order to score points. The game is
played outdoors on a grass court, 80 feet in
length and 13 feet in width. Four person
(team) plays against another four person
(team).

It’s a great way to connect with other
people in your community, improve
your mental health and to get some
fresh air and exercise. Group meets
afterwards for conversation and
refreshments. Wear comfortable
