Tournament Game Rules
1. Games will consist of six (6) innings or two (2) hours whichever comes first.
2. Tournament age: league age seven and eight year olds.
3. Teams will play with 9 defensive players each player will play at least two defensive innings. There will
be a continuous batting order and all present players shall be included in the lineup at all times.
4. The pitching machine will be set at 40 MPH and be placed on top of the mound.
5. Games will be umpired by the Game Official (RPLL Rep) or if unavailable by the Offensive Coach at the
pitching machine.
6. Outs are observed, once the team at bat reaches five (5) runs or three (3) outs, the inning is over.
7. Five (5) run maximum per inning. The 6th inning is not an open inning. Score will be kept and posted
on the scoreboard. The scoreboard will be turned off if a team is ahead by a considerable margin.
8. Each batter will have a maximum of 5 hittable pitches. If the batter swings and misses 3 times, he will
be called out. There are no called strikes and no walks. If the player hits a foul ball on his 5th pitch, he
gets another pitch.
9. All batted ball are considered live. If a ball hits the machine and bounces into foul territory, the batter is
awarded a single, and each player advances one base.
10. The pitcher must have the baseball in hand in the infield to stop play. A runner may continue if the
runner is more than half way down the baseline. All runners advance at their own risk. Example: pitcher is in
possession of the ball in the infield and a runner tries to advance but is not more than half way, the runner can be
thrown out. If the runner is safe he must return to previous base. A runner can advance one base per
overthrow.
11. There is no stealing or leading off the pitching machine. No Bunting, No Walks, No infield fly rule
12. All players must remain completely inside of the dugouts when not in play. NO ON-DECK BATTERS.
13. Coaches are not permitted in the outfield. On offense you must have a first and third base coach and
pitching machine operator. A fourth coach/parent must be in the dugout with the players. Coaches are
not permitted on the field when on defense.
13. Balls used are RS little league baseballs. Each team will supply 3 new balls to each game.
At the sole discretion of the Tournament Director, the schedule and team match‐ups may be changed to avoid mismatches, accommodate
conflicts and scheduling needs, or otherwise further the best interest of a fair, competitive, and enjoyable tournament experience for all
teams.
