13.7.13 – Round 12 Shep Swans Congratulations to Ryan Foxy Emmett for his 100th game today, and to Josh Linton, Nick Coulstock and Katie Cordingley for playing their 50th games in round 11 against United. Congratulations and thankyou to Stacey Brasier for successfully obtaining her "C" badge for umpiring Netball. Seniors What a game! What a result! Two weeks ago against United was a good day for the KFNC - beating our bogie side while cementing our spot in the top half of the ladder with 7 home and aways remaining. The entire match was played with finals-like pressure with a big home crowd cheering our boys on. 11 goals were kicked in the first quarter with the Bombers holding a 17 point advantage. The Demons kicked four goals to our two to reduce the lead to 9 at the main break. The premiership quarter was won by United and we went into the final change of ends holding a slender 3 point lead. Now, this could have quite easily gone wrong for the Bombers with our bench reduced to one for the last quarter. How did the boys respond you ask...? By kicking 6 goals to none and run out 37 point winners. An amazing final quarter! As most of you would have read over the last two weeks, our captain Paulo kicked a bag of ten and was simply incredible. Scatty Hilton continued his good form while 'Bruce' Morris was leapfrogging over blokes heads all day long. Nick Coolstock again played well and Morgs was fantastic at full back. We welcome back a few players into todays side and hope to continue our good form as we take on the Swans of Shepparton. Go Ky! A quick congratulations to Tommy Sheldon who represented Vic Country last weekend. Well done mate, you've done us proud. Reserves A disappointing result but not all doom and gloom for our Scooby-Doos against United. Our boys scored an inaccurate 7.15 57 to 10.4 64 to go down by just seven points against a quality Reserves football side. Willy Wild bagged 5 of our goals and continues to make a claim for senior selection. If you're speaking to Will today be sure to ask him about his 'speccie' as he hasn't stopped talking about since he landed. Best on honours went to one of this scribe's favourite players, Jacko McLay. A tough and uncompromising player who gets the absolute best out of himself. The Tank Molly Dillon played a superb game as did AV. Other 'best' players were Locky, Will Jacko and Matty Wild. A big test for our young twos side today as we come up against the side that pipped us at home only a few weeks ago. Should be a ripping contest between two good sides. Go Bombers! 3’s With just the bare numbers we went to battle on Sunday in a fiercely contested game, unfortunately with no interchange players after ¾ time and a few players feeling the pinch from the physical game we were overcome by a fast finishing United. Muelzy was again our best player with his fearless attack on the game with great support from Matty Morris and Parky down back doing their best to repel the constant United forward thrusts. Other quality players were Oggy, Besso and Mitch. 17/Under Kyabram were caught out early, resulting in a slow, unsettled start from the home side as United took control. Nat Dillon was instrumental in the midcourt, feeding her goalers with ease, and Monique Williams stood up to give her team every opportunity. United pushed back at the start of the second half and Ky produced some sloppy play. At 20-26 down, Bombers produced some great intercepts to peg back the lead, however United held on long enough until the final whistle. Final Score: Kyabram 30 defeated by Shepparton United 34. Best: Monique Williams, Stacey Brasier and Nat Dillon. B Reserve After a tight first quarter little separated the teams at 5-5, but United were able to break away with some tight defensive pressure and great intercepts. Kyabram remained with their opponents and were able to win the third quarter 9-8, but lost momentum in the final term when United stepped onto the court the more determined side. United surprised us in the final term with their intensity and hunger for the ball. Little could be done as Kyabram struggled to break the defences of the Demons. Final Score: Kyabram 26 defeated by Shepparton United 38. Best: Lori Niven, Leanne Gledhill and Alannah Scopeliti. katie Cordingley photo.pptx B Grade United started in brilliant style, moving the ball quickly into attack, making it difficult for the Kyabram defensive line-up. United continued to exert dominance, despite several positional changes from Ky, continuing to keep us to single figure quarters. United dominanated in the second half, despite Kyabram’s best efforts, and ran out winners. Final Score: Kyabram 23 defeated by Shepparton United 54. Best: Kylie Spencer, Liz Jackson and Emma Ryan. A Grade In a high standard match, Kyabram settled early to stamp their dominance. Both teams gave great defensive pressure and had to work hard to feed their goalers. Emma Ryan stepped up from the 17’s undaunted by the enormous task, and played great netball despite some tough competition. Holly Butler worked tirelessly in attack, becoming troublesome for her opponents. The score remained close most of the game holding off a late attack from United. Final Score: Kyabram 39 defeated Shepparton United 29. Best: Holly Butler, Ash Mangan and Emma Ryan.
