Building Tomorrow’s Sydney
The NSW Government is building an integrated transport
solution including public transport and road infrastructure
to ensure Sydney does not come to a grinding halt.
Westconnex will widen and extend the M4 and M5 and
join them together to form a continuous free flowing
motorway with connections to the CBD, airport and
port. Westconnex will provide relief to the hundreds of
thousands of motorists struggling in traffic congestion on
these busy road corridors every day.

The location of the western entry and exit point to the
New M5 tunnel will be built on government land within
the existing M5 East Motorway corridor at Kingsgrove.
The tunnel will not impact Wolli Creek Bushland and no
local homes will be acquired. A ventilation facility will be
built on government land close to the start of the tunnel
and temporary work sites will be established on both
sides of the M5 East Motorway when construction starts
in mid-2016.
