connecting up people to local independent businesses with the opening of the Borders Railway.
LocalMotive Markets are delighted to invite you to apply to become part of this series of special markets

Frequently Asked Questions
Access:
You can access the market via Calton Road. Trolleys are available to assist you coming into the market
with the lift. However, vehicles will only be able to access the station if their registration number is on our
list so please include this in the application form and let us know if any changes by Tuesday each week.
Access will be staggered to avoid congestion so you will be allotted a time period to arrive and
unload/load. At all times, passengers have priority with the lift access, breach of this can mean instant
dismissal from the market. The market is a guest of the station so passengers always have priority for
access in all areas of the station.
Parking:
Parking is available in the New Street Car Park at a discounted rate of £5/day. Again, only vehicles on the
list will have this privilege. There is a height restriction on the exit of the car park but the entrance is fine,
so, if you have a van, you will need to alert staff when you wish to leave and they will help you exit via
the entrance you came in. Vans over 1.8 metre high restriction
Direct competition:
It is in our interest to ensure the market has as many different products on offer as possible to attract
customers, but, as the market develops it will be able to support duplication of some stalls, such as cakes
and jewellery.
Power:
Electricity is available at a £10 when booked in advance, please tick this if required. No gas or open
flames are permitted.
Water:
Available on site (cold only).
Food and drink traders:
Before application accepted you will have to
meet health and safety requirements as well
as show proof that your business is registered
with your local authority.
Different stall sizes:
Gazebos have roof only (no sides) and you
need to bring your own tables. We have 2x2m
and 3 x 3 metre gazebos. Tables for hire are
plastic with fold-out legs.
Confirmation:
We aim to confirm bookings by the beginning of June. We anticipate a positive amount of interest and
demand to trade, and we will aim to provide everyone space for this special series of markets, celebrating
the opening of Scottish Borders Railway. We also need to ensure trader products meet Network Rail’s
approval so you may be declined even if you have a fantastic product. Please ensure the application
form completed fully to be considered.
