2014 CSA Crop Share Full Year Program
We continue to offer a year-round CSA program, using our root
cellar and high tunnels to extend the season. New this year was
a hydroponic system used to grow lettuce during the winter.
Our program remains similar to last year, but with a few
changes. We have divided our program into 4 seasons,
replacing the monthly system, while continuing to offer prorated, anytime signup. Eggs are now optional, you can add them
to your share in any amount desired. We are moving to an
online system where members can track their payments, credits
and status. As before, members get credit for vacation holds
and other seasonal stops.
CSA, as you know, stands for “Community Supported Agriculture”, which is a way to support local
farmers with an extended commitment. You buy a subscription to a “crop share”, and every week you
receive a share of whatever fruits and vegetables are being harvested that week. It’s a great way to
get a regular supply of super fresh produce, priority on limited items, and a chance to try new things
that you might not buy at the store. Obviously, during the winter months, produce will be more limited
to greens, stored vegetables and some canned items.
This is our 12th year selling at farmers markets, and our 7th year offering CSA shares. Our program
operates all year. Pickup is at the Buffalo or Maple Grove Farmers Markets, at our farm, and we offer
delivery to your home or business in selected areas.
We offer a full share, which at peak season is about a bushel of produce, and we offer a half share for
those that want to start smaller. Egg shares can be added as desired in half share increments and an
Egg Only CSA option is also available. An egg share is 1 dozen eggs per week. A full share is
typically a good fit for a family of four, or for two people who eat a lot of vegetables.
Members may subscribe at any time, paying for one half of current season or more. If starting, midseason, the payment is pro-rated by the number of weeks remaining in the season. If you let us know
in advance, you get credit if unable to pickup – vacations or other reasons. You may suspend your
subscription for longer periods. And, of course, you may end your subscription at any time.
