Formulate Needs Assessment Questions


Who are prospective partners? Host? What
collaborations might you develop?

How familiar are the key partners and community
members with the issue you are trying to address?

What services are needed in the area ?

How are they currently being provide? How
accessible are these services (e.g., hours, location,
language capacity)?

What training needs will be required to provide these
services?


Review existing data sources
Collect new data
Sample Questions
Who are key players?
What obstacles may interfere with accomplishing
your mission? How can they be removed?

What data do you have re the needs?

Does existing data, (documents and records) provide
enough information to answer your needs
assessment questions?

Do you have access to all relevant data from key
organizations? How can you gain access? What if you
cannot gain access?

What additional data do you need to answer your
needs assessment questions?

How will you do that?

Who do you need to contact?
Analyze data

Qualitative
Use Findings

Do you have enough experience analyzing qualitative
and quantitative data to make sense of the data
collected?

Do you have sufficient time to thoroughly analyze
the data?

Are you able to use the data to answer the needs
assessment questions in the most effective

Define the "need" with the help of the beneficiary
and Community (who what where when why)

Verify contacts for implementation and for
sustainability later

Verify the Host Club Partner participation as well as
the Community participants

Establish strong measurements for progress and
ultimate success

Document this information and transfer into the
grant application.
