WARM UP
Duration: players ­ 10 min, goalkeepers ­ 0 min
Individual technique
Running with the ball
1st Part ­ Toe pointed down to dribble with the ball at speed
(For field players only)
Duration: 10 min
Organisation:
­ Half of the players have a ball on the line
­ Other half standing behind them without a ball
­ Rectangle grid 10m x 20m (players running length ways)
Learning:
1) Get ball out of feet and knock ball in front to run with it (accelerate)
2) Use your toe pointed down to kick the ball forward (not inside or outside
foot)
3) Keeping the ball close (the weight of touches but far enough to keep
running with the ball)
4) Look up to see where you are going (if you need to stop/turn)
Instruction points:
1) Players with the ball dribble ball as fast as they can to the other side of the
grid
2) When they get to the other line, stop the ball, turn around and dribble back
3) Stop the ball at teammate's feet and the action repeats
Variations:
STEP UP
1) 1st players in line try to get past opposite line as quickly as possible when
the coach says "GO!". 2nd player behind them, without a ball, chases them to
the line when the coach says "CHASE!". Switch roles after every turn.

2nd Part ­ Toe pointed down to dribble with the ball at speed

RUN THE GAUNTLET
­ Half of the players have a ball on the line
­ Other half standing behind them without a ball
­ Rectangle grid 10m x 20m (players running length ways)
­ 1 or more defenders on the line to try to stop players from dribbling pas
them
Learning:
