APPLY FOR FUNDING: GUIDANCE AND APPLICATION FORM Guidance About us Chance to Flourish (registered charity number SC046177) is a new Scottish Charity and society lottery operating as part of the new, weekly Scottish Children’s Lottery. Chance to Flourish operates as a “grant giving” charity seeking to advance education, health and social development of pre-school children and their families and carers. We seek to support projects and activities in Scotland, with the aspiration of alleviating the impact of poverty or financial hardship, social exclusion, relative/multiple deprivation and disability or illness. Our mission To work to ensure that every child in Scotland is given the opportunity to grow and develop to their full potential. What we will fund Projects or activities that we will support will: • • • be undertaken by registered charities that hold a charity bank account be delivered in Scotland work with the most vulnerable families with pre-school children at a demonstrably high risk of being negatively impacted by poverty • demonstrate involvement of individuals and communities that understand and have experience of the issues that poverty presents • work outside, or supplementary to, statutory responsibilities • clearly demonstrate positive impacts Examples of projects or activities that we may consider funding include those delivering: • • • • practical family support including food, clothing and shelter support for single parents including parenting skills, health and nutrition accessible and affordable daycare or play facilities support for vulnerable parents with preschool children or families with pre-school children suffering from any type of disability We will not fund • • • • • • statutory agencies or projects or activities which are a statutory responsibility more than 50% of the total project or activity costs a project or activity that takes place outside of Scotland retrospective or deficit funding or repayment of loans administration costs (including marketing and IT) projects or activities undertaken by any organisation other than by registered charities Chance to Flourish SCIO SC046177 How much can you apply for? Any amount up to £5,000, £10,000, £25,000 or £50,000. How we will fund We are helped in our grant-making process by STV Children’s Appeal (registered charity number SCO42429) which has a long track record in promoting and supporting children’s charities throughout Scotland. Whilst the purposes of Chance to Flourish and the STV Children’s Appeal are aligned, each has an approach to funding which is complementary. STV Children’s Appeal is proactive whilst Chance to Flourish will fund through an open application process. Applications for funding which satisfy our guidance and are received not less than four weeks before the quarterly funding award meeting of the Chance to Flourish Board of Trustees (“the quarterly deadline”) will be considered in that four week period. The final decisions as to the award of funding will be determined by the Trustees. Applications received after the quarterly deadline will be considered in the following period.
