Progressed development of the draft Management Plan for the South Australian Lakes and
Coorong Fishery (the ‘Management Plan’) including liaison with industry representatives

Met with project investigators, SARDI and SFA EO to implement outcomes of FRDC
project and develop a framework and harvest strategy for the net component of the Lakes
and Coorong Fishery

Reviewed Pipi harvest strategy, including meetings with SARDI, Southern Fisherman’s
Association (SFA) Executive Officer (EO), Goolwa Pipi Harvesters Association (GPHA) EO
and representatives from the fishery – 15 August 2014, 4 March 2015, 10 April 2015 and 8
May 2015

Prepared, communicated and managed of 3 month public comment period for draft
management plan November 2014 - February 2015 with public meetings- Tailem Bend 25
November 2014 and West Beach 2 December 2014

Reviewed the Net and Pipi Operator User guide

Supported the development of broader policies that are relevant to the fishery including
harvest strategy, bycatch and release of aquatic resources
Liaised with Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources and industry to
develop mitigation measures for Long Nosed fur seal interactions
Preparation of submissions to enable
regular assessment of commercial
fisheries under the EPBC Act

Liaised with the Department of the Environment (DotE) regarding further extension for the
assessment of Lakes and Coorong Fishery under Part 13 of the EPBC Act 1999, to allow
for development of new management plan
